Essential Phone (PH-1) Specifications, Review and Price in India

The Essential Phone (PH-1) has Andy Rubins , the guy who made Android, as the brains behind it and is a premium, high-end smartphone that comes aiming at imbibing futuristic values in a smartphone.

The phone's design is a bit opposed to what we are used to seeing commonly, and has a 5.7-inch display (2K+ resolution) covering the display in almost its entirety, save for a small space foe the front camera. Fitted with a Snapdragon 835 SoC, the phone has a 4GB RAM supporting the chipset, while the ROM present inside is 128GB in size.

There is a dual 13MP camera unit on the back - while one is a monochrome, the other is a colored one. The cameras have dual-tone flash units on each sides for company and a couple of pogo pins have also been allotted space on the rear side of the Essential Phone. The pins are there either to magnetically hinge it tho modular accessories or for wireless charging of the handset. Up front, there is an 8MP selfie-snapper

The phone runs on Ambient OS and also has provisions for Essential Home, a circular home assistant that also has a touchscreen. Unlike the smartphones prevalent today, the Essential Phone (PH-1) has a body made up entirely of titanium.

The phone is currently available for purchase exclusively in the US and the Essential Phone (PH-1) best price in India is expected to be around 44,999INR.

Essential Phone Review

The Essential PH-1 is a truly beautiful smartphone. Even better, it boasts impressive performance and battery life, not to mention one of the cleanest Android experiences you'll find out there. Unfortunately, smartphone cameras have gotten so good that Essential's purely OK shooter will frustrate some. The lack of certain popular niceties, like a headphone jack and water resistance, also make the PH-1 a tougher sell than expected.read more →

Essential Phone review

The Essential Phone is a feat of engineering in that it somehow manages to fit a 5.7-inch 2,560 x 1,312 display into a chassis that’s not much larger. It’s a confident melding of glass and ceramic that seems rather basic in what it’s trying to attempt, but it’s hiding a few tricks up its sleeve.

It offers a stock Android experience and looks like no other device out there, but so far, the company has come up short on its promises.read more →

Essential Phone Review

The Essential phone is a beautifully crafted piece of technology. Despite the bugs, the device feels really, really good in the hand. The phone’s design works. The screen’s design works too, regardless of concerns one might have had with the front facing camera placement. Unfortunately, that is where the allure begins, and ends.

The beautiful ceramic backplate is a fingerprint magnet of monumental proportions.read more →

Essential Phone Review

The display is a 5.71-inch LTPS IPS LCD with a significantly voluminous 84.9% screen-to-body ratio. It’s right on-part with other top-tier smartphones of the past year for pixel density at 1312x2560 pixels (504 PPI), and it’s covered with a pane of Gorilla Glass 5.

There’s a notch here, and it contains a camera. This tiny space interrupts the flow of the rectangle that makes up most of the rest of the front of the phone.read more →
  • Bright, colorful, sharp display

  • Premium feel
  • Android with no frills
  • Nearly bezel-less front looks beautiful
  • Software feels like unfinished business
  • Glass front and ceramic back makes phone slippery
  • Camera quality is lacking
  • Nearly bezel-less front makes for awkward handling
