In their heyday, BlackBerry and Nokia were pioneers in smartphone technology, and many people would associated their crumbling to their stubbornness to steer away from Android. Both tech giants are now planning a resurrection and Android adoption is what they plan on. BlackBerry will soon launch a peculiar slider phone BlackBerry Priv, which will be running Android 5.1 Lollipop, along with Google’s suit of Apps (No, it won’t be a forked version like Nokia X). On the inside, BlackBerry Priv includes top of line features and specifications. There is a 5.4 inch display with 1440 x 2560 resolution, fueled by 1.8GHz quad core processor with 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage and option for 128GB secondary SD card storage. Reportedly, BlackBerry has included an 18MP rear camera sensor too. The slider is meant to provide QWERTY keyboard experience to long term BlackBerry fans. We do believe that BlackBerry makes some of the best smartphone keyboards, but is a slider the right way to do it? Won’t it make the device chunky and unbalanced? We will have to wait till the year end to find out. This might be a classic case of ‘Too little too late’ or be the phone that brings long term loyalist return to the platform.
