Pretty good
Pros: 1.Display: The display alone makes this laptop worthy. It supports HDR10 ,Dolby Vision (Tested in games, youtube and offline videos)It has 500nits brightness. At even 25% brightness screen is properly visible ! Viewing angles are great too.very good contrast ratio (1300:1) so blacks and whites are great. Its has 72% NTSC ,97% SRGB.so very good color accuracy. 2.Build:solid aluminium builds on keyboard deck and lid while bottom panel is made of plastic.Body doesn't get fingerprints at all unlike plastic body laptops. 3.Performance:I downgraded my bios to 1.03 and uv cpu to 135.7 mv both cache and core.My cinebench R20 score is 2788 and for R23 it is 6667 which is pretty good for i7 9th gen.And 1660ti can handle games easily at 1080p at 45-60fps.After overclocking the GPU (memory +188,clock +796) I am also able to get recent raytracing performance (metro exodus rt high 30fps avg 1050p ) though don't expect much in raytracing as it don't have dlss support .But without raytracing it is capable of giving some serious performance (apex legends 100+ fps , battlefield 1 100+fps ,battlefield v 80+ fps, horizon zero dawn 45+ fps on avg ultra graphics all using max fan). There is also optimus in this laptop which let u disable integrated GPU to boost gaming performance. 4.Speakers:very loud speakers. After setting sound profile to dynamic in Dolby Atmos app it produces very good quality sound. Two speakers are from Harman kardon and are very good. 5.Thermals : with stock cpu settings cpu reaches 90+ for a second then again in 80-90 range .So it throttles for 1-2 seconds only .But for some games (I think their optimization is bad) temp goes to 94 deg c and stay there .wth uv performance remains almost same with temp like 80-85 deg c .GPU temp stays between 70-75 deg c. 6.Ports : has almost all necessary ports including Thunderbolt 3 port which can be used to add a external GPU but upto 2080ti only new ampere GPU bandwidths are higher than thunderbolt 3 usable bandwidth which is less than 40gbps.And maximum ports are at back side which is good as u will use a gaming mouse. 7.keyboard and trackpads : they are very good .trackpad has dedicated keys which I like . keyboards keys are at proper distance though key travel is little less.there are macro keys too and dedicated key for game recording .4 zone RGB is very bright. 8. 1 Tb samsung ssd .read and write speeds are 3 Gbps and 2.5 Gbps .file transfer between drives happens at a speed of 600mbps Cons: 1.Software:my main complain is about the software.Although microsoft office 2019 and mcAffe 1 yr is free with this laptop there is issue about the drivers. The latest bios (1.10) reduces max fan speed so limits performance. The latest corsair software (used to control RGB) eats up battery like 1% per hour.and no driver updates after June 2020.solution is to downgrade bios and install old version of corsair. 2.Battery : after uninstalling corsair (install the version in mentioned in screenshot) it gives about 3.5 hrs during video call meetings.using word etc it will give about 4.5 hrs.For youtube continuous 1080p playback it gives about 3 hrsDecent results for a small 57 whr battery but new legion laptops have 80 whr batteries. 3.Gsync compatible display but still no gsync .I don't know why. 4.Webcam : webcam positioning is worst though quality is avg and noise cancelling mics are pretty good . Conclusion: It is a little costly .But still a complete package.no one offers HDR Dolby vision 500 nitsdisplay with metal body in this price segment.Lets consider the options. 1.hp omen 15 ryzen is cheapest 1660 ti laptop but display is poor 60hz and build quality has some real issues. 2.Next is tuf a15 it also has poor screen and thermals are poor too. 3.Dell G5 SE has build and thermal issues. At this price segment your best choice for only performance would be MSI GL65 leopard .it has better performance (i7 10th gen and 2060 115w) but build ,speaker ,display ,port positions and inferior and avg. Ur best choice would be y740 2060 version. But if your budget is not that high (<1.20L) u can consider this as it provides u a complete package
