Good Laptop
Hi All, After 3-4 weeks of using the laptop I must say that its good enough at the price range. I am not an avid gamer but still like to test laptops for their power...so installed Crysis 3 (2013), NFS MW 2012, NFS HP 2010, Battlefield 3 (2011), Battlefield Bad Company 2, Call of Duty MW3 (2011) , Call of Duty MW2 (2009) & Call of Duty Black Ops (2010), Far Cry 2 (2008) & Flatout Ultimate Carnage (2008) All these games run fine...some at low settings like Crysis 3, Battlefield 3, rest all at medium settings & some at high....but all games are playable....I tested this with a range of games from 2008 to 2013 as described above. Using CPU-Z ...one comes to know that RAM installed is a single DIMM of 4 GB, which leaves one more slot empty so one can upgarde the RAM. This single DIMM also might lead to speed issues as it thus becomes a single channel memory....so if u guys upgrade the RAM...dual channel RAM can thus lead to speed improvements. Note: Keep upgrading the video drivers from AMD as their latest 13.8 beta has solved many issues regarding dual graphics...like micro stuttering & frame rate drops Sound quality is good...video,audio playback for HD movies is smooth. Heating issues: In normal usage scenarios like songs & HD movies no heating issues are seen... But while playing games especially BF3, C3....sometimes the laptop gets heated up....not too much but upto 70-75 degrees. So buy a cooling pad if u r a hardcore gamer...or buy a desktop at best...NFS MW 2012 & NFS HP 2010 just make ur system warm...not much heat generated... A10-4500M is good for multitasking but bad for single core performance....so compressing/decompressing files is fast on this machine...performance is between Ci3 3rd Gen & Ci5 3rd Gen....but still AMD is no match for Intel....also this processor is NOT a true Quad core...jst has 4 integer units & 2 FP units....but good enough for daily jobs One issue I have always faced in this laptop and all other laptops with Win 8 is the GPT partitioning scheme. Not many softwares are available in the market which can take and restore a direct disk image of the WIndows 8 system with GPT/UEFI....so I had to format my entire system & disable the secure boot feature(UEFI) so as to enable legacy BIOS & use Macrium reflect software for disk imaging...Installing linux can be an issue...but probably many of the latest linuxes have solved the problem...booting from pendrive can be an issue...booting from CD can be an issue... For bootable pendrives : Use Rufus software for creating bootable pendrives (it creates bootable pendrives which are MBR/UEFI compatible) Webcam is OK...I dont use it much... Rest all is as advertised....HDMI ports, 2 USB 3.0 ports , 1 USB 2.0 Wish they had given a backlit keyboard... So go for it if u want a middle-high end system....7660G+7670M is better than 8550G+8570M which is there in Lenovo G505s laptops (notebookcheck.com)... Very good for daily usage...browsing...audio...video....even audio...video editing.. Moderately good for gaming....visit youtube.com for gameplay videos on the same/similar laptop...might give u an idea about its performance... Rating it as 4 stars..
Read More on Flipkart →Honest Review- Must Read before Buying this Machine
This will be my 1st review in this website and are for those who are confused about purchasing this machine or not. 1st of all I haven’t bought this laptop from flipkart and believe me the prices of the market is nearly the same here in Kolkata. HP-G6 2312AX After a month of research about laptops and best gaming budget laptops I decided to for this machine and believe me it wasn’t a mistake. Here are some of the reasons why: 1. AMD Chipset: Somewhere or the other everyone is confused about buying an AMD chipset machine but in my opinion he/she shouldn’t. AMD if not better, its nowhere inferior than an i5. I have used an i5 machine for a month and performance is same for an average user. The real magic happens when you through a game at the processors and yes for gaming i5 is no match for AMD. 2. Windows 8- Believe me guys Windows 8 is designed for gamers. After doing an elaborate research about Windows 8 and using it for the last month I would say its really worth it. Although there are some cons but as they say with great power comes great responsibilities. Gesture features might be fun for few but for me it sucks but you always have an option of not using it. One last and most important thing about windows 8- ITS FAST, REALLY FAST. It boots up in no time (just press the button and count 5). 3. Gaming- Nothing to describe. This is one of the best gaming rigs money can buy you within 40000 (Including a 2 GB RAM which I have installed in one of the empty slots- You can do so at just around 1000-1200 INR, Its cheap). Just through a game and enjoy the magic happen. I have played titles like BF-3, NFSMW-13, PES 12, ACIII, Sleeping Dogs and GTA-SA within a month and it haven’t let me down yet. 4. Heating- No heating issues at all. I have been playing AC-III for 6 hours straight and my chair was more heated than the machine. 5. 1 TB hard disk in this budget. Only a few laptops offers this much storage in this price. 6. Webcam is HD, Bluetooth is 4.0 which is latest and file transfers are fast where as vide USB file transfers are Blazing Fast. I am getting around 20-23 MB/sec occasionally and depending upon the removable device I am using. After all its 3.0. 7. Multitasking is very fluid and gives you a free flow experience. 8. Speaker quality is also good and if you are not looking for a surround sound 8+1 home theater system these speakers shall suffice your day to day needs. 9. If not very heavy and is really elegant looking. Now lets face it, it must have cons: 1. Display might have been better, but I guess this is what we get in this price. 2. Battery back-up while playing games is disappointing around 2 hours. General Recommendation: 1. Don’t forget to make recovery disks before usage. It takes 5 dvd’s. 2. If you are looking for a gaming machine within 40000 than go for it, don’t worry. The only alternative available is Lenovo Essential G505s (59-380146) which has 8 GB ram but no OS preinstalled and is only available online (Price- Rs. 34000 approx). I would recommend buying HP rather than Lenovo, don’t ask why.
