Xiaomi has brought out the Redmi 9, that’s powered by MediaTek Helio G80 chipset. This is the same silicon found inside the Realme Narzo 10 (review). The two affordable handsets also share somewhat similar battery size along with 18W fast charging support.

Let’s run through the Redmi 9 offerings, closely followed by a spec comparison of the two devices.

Redmi 9 Features

Upfront, Redmi 9 sports a 6.53-inch LCD with Full HD+ reso, 395ppi, 400 nits of advertised brightness, and gorilla glass 3 protection. Within a waterdrop notch, lies the phone’s 8MP front camera.

The back camera stack comprises of a 13 MP primary camera, accompanied by an 8MP (118-degrees FoV) ultrawide clicker, a 5MP macro module, and a 2MP depth shooter. From both and front snappers, you get to shoot 1080p@30fps videos.

This is layered on top of internals such as MediaTek Helio G80 chip, up to 4GB RAM and 64GB storage (dedicated microSD expansion up to 512GB), and a 5020mAh battery. Although the phone supports an 18W charger, Xioami ships the Redmi 9 with a 10W brick only.

The phone has a USB-C port, a 3.5mm jack, and things like IR emitter, Bluetooth 5.0, FM radio, Wi-Fi, and NFC (in select markets). You can pick the device in Carbon Gray, Sunset Purple, and Ocean Green colors.
