Xiaomi Mi Watch unveiled with an Always-on AMOLED display and MIUI skinned Wear OS

Over the years, Mi Bands have been a decent offering from Xiaomi. Today, the company has launched the Mi branded smartwatch too. At the product event in Beijing where we witnessed the Mi CC9 Pro, Mi Watch also got unveiled. Xiaomi brought out the Mi Watch, calling it a “small phone on your wrist”. Let’s see what it offers to claim so.

Upfront it houses a 1.78-inch AMOLED display within a 44mm casing. The screen stays always on for interaction. The casing is fitted on a ceramic base. There is a button and a crown on the right side while on the left, you get a microphone and a solo speaker opening.

Moreover, there is a premium model with a sapphire crystal screen, stainless steel frame, and band.

Inside, the software is Wear OS, which is found in several other smartwatches. However, the twist is that it comes with MIUI skin on top. There is an app suite vaunting over 40 apps and an app store too. And you could expect more apps on the way from third-party developers.

It features the laundry list of health and fitness trackers such as heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen sensors, sleep-tracking, body energy monitoring, and swim tracking. Speaking of which, the device is also water-resistant and supports Firstbeat’s performance analytics for a detailed insight into your heart rate data during different physical activities.

Snapdragon Wear 3100 4G chipset runs in the core paired with 1GB RAM, 8GB storage and a 570mAh battery. Mi Watch claims to eke out 36 hours off a single charge. As for connectivity, Xiaomi has equipped the device with eSIM, WiFi, Bluetooth, and NFC.

The Mi Watch is currently launched in China and Indian availability is yet to be revealed. As for our China-based readers, you could grab the standard variant once the sale begins on November 11. Xiaomi has priced it at CNY 1,299 ($185) while the Privilege model will retail at CNY 1,999 ($285). Its availability details haven’t been made public.
