2018 has been a fantastic year for Xiaomi as it gave a tough competition to Samsung and for a while even dethroned the later from the top position in the Indian Market. Now, as we are close to the end of 2k18, Xiaomi has launched a new gaming phone titled Mi Play under its all-new Play series. If the name sounds similar, yeah it would compete against the very successful Huawei’s Honor Play. So, let’s see if the specs and features of Mi Play were able to match your anticipations or not.
Mi Play Looks
For the first time, a Xiaomi phone has a waterdrop notch. If a phone has to have a notch, then waterdrop notch should be the one. It gives more screen landscape and IMO is less ugly than a boat-shaped notch. The phone looks dope in press renders and will be available in 10 different gradient colors.
Xiaomi Mi Play Specs and Features
The phone has a 5.84-inch, 2280×1080 pixels Full HD+ display, which curves and blends with the gradient back. It comes in various color options including Black, Dream Blue, and Twilight Gold.
At the back, there is a 12MP (f 2.2 aperture) primary sensor and a customary 2MP depth sensor, both assisted by LED flash. Whereas, for clicking selfies, there is an 8-megapixel front-facing camera.
Remember, this is a gaming-centric smartphone and it must be capable of running games like PUBG without a hiccup. It has the power of 2.3GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio P35 processor with IMG GE8320 GPU and 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM.
The juice offered by a 3000mAh battery needs to be tested to know whether it is enough to fuel a gaming smartphone.
Internally, Mi Play has an eMMC 5.1, 64GB storage that is expandable up to 256GB. The smartphone supports 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, and USB Type-C port.
It will be running on Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 10 which has some cool and handy features under-the-hood.
Though, it doesn’t have the trending biometric solutions like Face Unlock. However, it has the good-old fingerprint sensor right below the dual camera setup.
