Xiaomi Mi A1 Android Oreo Update Coming Soon, Guide on How To Register For Beta Test

Xiaomi Mi A1 (faq) is another successful mid-range smartphone from the Chinese smartphone maker. The phone becomes first Xiaomi phone to be part of Android One ecosystem and now all set to become first Xiaomi smartphone running on Android Oreo.

Launched in September, the Xiaomi Mi A1 (review) has received several OTA updates since its launch. Now, Xiaomi is looking for beta testers for Mi A1 (tips and tricks) as it is planning to push Android 8.0 Oreo in coming days.

All those who are interested to become a part of Mi A1 beta testing team can go to the MIUI Global Forum app and fill up the registration form before December 11 at 11:59 PM Beijing time. Once the registration process is over, the company will intimate you on MIUI global forum of your selection.

The company is yet to officially announce the Oreo update roll out date for the Mi A1 but it is expected to push it before the end of this year. The Android 8.0 Oreo brings a lot of improvements at the software level and will offer up to two times faster boot up speed, AutoFill, picture-in-picture mode, Android instant apps, notification dots, redesigned emoji set and more.

Apart from being an Android One phone, the Mi A1 (covers) also significant for Xiaomi’s portfolio because of its dual camera set up. The smartphone is currently retailing in India in both online and offline channels at Rs 14,999 both via offline and online channels. Next week, Flipkart is going to offer Mi A1 at a discounted price of Rs. 12,999 offering Rs. 2,000 between Dec 7-9 big shopping days sale.

To recall, the Mi A1 boasts off a metal unibody design with a 5.5-inch full HD screen and a 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass protection. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset coupled Adreno 506 GPU with 4GB RAM. The phone comes with dedicated microSD card slot and dual SIM card slots. It draws juice from it’s 3,080mAh battery.
