Xiaomi cancels Redmi Note 9 on-ground launch event amid Coronavirus fear

As you may already know Xiaomi is set to launch its next-in-line Redmi Note series phones on March 12. Not just the Redmi Note 9 phones, the brand is expected to unveil the Mi 10 too. But amidst the Coronavirus woes, the on-ground launch event has been called off. In a tweet, Mr. Manu Kumar Jain, Global VP, Xiaomi, has informed its fans and the media about the same.

His tweet reads, “Due to recent reports of COVID-19 #CoronaOutbreak in certain parts of the country, we’ve decided to not host product launch events on-ground in March. This is keeping in mind the safety of fans, media friends, employees & partners. I urge you all to stay safe. 🙏”

But that doesn’t mean the phone won’t see the daylight. It would be launched via their official Youtube and/or Twitter handle. So, you shall witness the reveal on March 12 at 12 noon.

Xiaomi cancels Redmi Note 9 launch event

But as the media release, Xiaomi won’t be hosting any on-ground event throughout this month.

That’s a highly thoughtful decision.

Since the Coronavirus outbreak, 91,432 cases and 3120 deaths have been reported (a.t.m). What’s even scarier is that these figures might not see a dip any time soon as no cure or vaccine has been developed thus far.
