Xiaomi Mi A1 To Launch On September 5, Flipkart Page Source Code Confirms

Update: we have spotted a clear mention of the Xiaomi Mi A1 in Flipkart source code ahead of tomorrow launch event (that is, apart from the source code mention that we spotted earlier).

Xiaomi India head Manu Jain couple of weeks back announced that Xiaomi will launch a dual camera phone on September 5 in India. Since, that day, a lot of us jumped the gun with joy predicting Xiaomi Mi 5X shall be the one that will make its debut in India that day. Well, Xiaomi is hinting otherwise.

Xiaomi confirms a New Series

At first, a twitter post from Xiaomi’s official Twitter Handle revealed that the brand is all set to introduce an entirely new series at the upcoming “XiaomiGlobalLaunch” hashtag.

“Counting down to #FlagshipDualCamera #XiaomiGlobalLaunch in New Delhi, India!” Xiaomi posted in its tweet.  It seems Xiaomi counting down to #FlagshipDualCamera #XiaomiGlobalLaunch in New Delhi, India!

Xiaomi Mi A1 Geekbench Leak

Mi A1 was then also spotted on Geekbench and the listing revealed Mi 5X like hardware on the phone, as was being widely speculated.

Flipkart Teaser Page Source Code Hints at Mi A1

Today, Flipkart’s official banner for upcoming Xiaomi phone went live (the phone is going to be a Flipkart exclusive). We on our part tried to do some digging and checked Flipkart’s page to find out if there is any mention of Xiaomi Mi A1 in the source code.

And yes, we did spot MiA1 in a place where Flipkart coders generally use Brand or device name. MI A1 being randomly present in the category name is highly unlikely.

Rumours so far suggest that Xiaomi Mi A1 will be almost identical to the Mi 5X on the hardware front, but it will be running on Android Nougat (stock) instead of MIUI 9.  The Xiaomi A1 will boast of a dual rear camera setup, as has been confirmed by the company. The phone is likely to boast a full HD display with minimum bezel, metal body, Snapdragon 625 chipset and 4GB RAM. Xiaomi could launch it two storage variants: 64GB or 128GB. It said to feature IMX362 or IMX386 Sony sensor in its dual camera setup.
