Vivo Tech Day 2024: Latest AI Features, Tech Offerings, Impact Report Key Points Announced

Leading smartphone brand Vivo is celebrating its 10th anniversary and as part of the celebrations, the brand has hosted Vivo Tech Day Event 2024. The Vivo Tech Day Event was hosted on 30th July wherein Vivo showcased the latest AI Features, Tech offerings, and its plans to go local in India. The AI features on devices include imaging capabilities, AI video algorithm support, cover glass composition, and more. Vivo also revealed key figures of the 3rd India Impact Report 2024 which highlights Vivo’s contribution to the smartphone industry in the past 10 years.

Let us first talk about what Vivo showcased during the event, followed by the Impact Report key points.

Advancements & Capabilities Showcased during Vivo Tech Day

The iQOO booth showcased the world’s first commercial 200W FlashCharge tech that allows charging a 4700mAh battery from 0 to 100% in merely 10 minutes. iQOO also showcased Q1, a supercomputing chip which is a proprietary gaming chip designed to enhance computing capabilities with 144fps gaming, 900P level of Super Resolution, and Game Frame Interpretation. It also showcased its partnership with BMW M Motorsport, inspiring the Legend tricolor design of iQOO’s flagship series.

2nd up is Vivo’s next-generation V3+ chipset that comes with AI Video Algorithm.

Vivo also presented an XFold3 Pro foldable that leverages advanced AI tools from Google’s Gemini on Vertex AI. It allows for overcoming language barriers, streamlining workflows, and improving efficiency.

Some imaging tech was also on display. It included imaging capabilities developed in partnership with ZEISS like the T* coating for better image clarity and reduced light reflection along with the ZEISS APO Telephoto lens with up to 100x zoom and Multifocal portraits supporting five focal lengths for taking professional quality portraits. The five focal lengths are 24mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, and 100mm.

Vivo also put to test the cover glass that comes with its smartphones. With the help of SCHOTT, a German company known for innovative glass tech that shows demonstrates the durability of cover glass with rigorous tests like Ball Drop, Bending, Folding, and Set Drop tests.

Telecommunication advancements were also a part of the Vivo tech day. Vivo is a major contributor to 3GPP with around 6000 patents and over 15,000 proposals to 3GPP since 2017.

Impact Report 2024: Key Points

  • According to the report, Vivo has followed its ‘Make in India’ policy and manufactured over 150+ million smartphones. The manufacturing facilities have provided jobs and skill development for over 15,000 Indians.
  • Vivo has partnered with 30+ Indian suppliers. It has 100% local assembly of motherboards, 94% of batteries, 97% of chargers, 77% of cameras, and 97% of fingerprint sensors.
  • Since 2022, Vivo has exported ‘Made in India’ phones worth Rs. 400 crore.
  • The company has enabled over 1.2 million Indians to access smartphones through its micro-financing partners.
  • The brand engages with over 100,000 Indians annually, focusing on local preferences. The innovations include India’s first 50MP Eye Auto Focus Dual Selfie, color-changing tech, and Indian Wedding Style mode.
  • Vivo has opened over 70,000 retail touchpoints with partners earning Rs. 15,000 crores cumulatively.
  • After-sales service has been strengthened as Vivo now has over 650 service centers and 2500 staff members.
  • Vivo creates over 200,000 direct and indirect jobs.
  • The company has invested over 26 crores in CSR initiatives, that affect over 2.5 million lives.

At the event, Geetaj Channana, head of corporate strategy said, “The past decade for vivo India has been defined by impact, resilience and commitment. From our beginnings as a newcomer, we now proudly serve over 120 million vivo smartphones used by proud Indians today.”
