New UC Browser Integrates Colors TV Content and UC News Feed

UCWeb Inc, an Alibaba Mobile Group company, today presented its revamped UC Browser App in Mumbai, India. Apart from the refreshed design, the new UC Browser also integrates UC News Feed and entertainment content from Colors TV.

The company definitely has big plans for UC News, which was recently launched in New Delhi. The news app understands consumer behavior and serves specific, relevant curated content to users, who can also conveniently share this content across multiple platforms with a single tap from within the Browser.

Several other features have also been added. Notable ones include a night mode that is less harsh on your eyes during those night reading sessions, support for more languages (Hindi and English for now, Tamil on its way) and myriad new animations. But, the high point of the whole facelift has to be the content partnership with Colors TV.

This mutually beneficial partnership with Colors TV will further help UCWeb consolidate its user base in India. As part of this alliance, exclusive content and behind the scene footage from marquee Color shows including Big Boss 10, Jhalak Dhikhlaja, 24 Season 2, and Comedy Nights Live will be available within UC Browser. Several other engagement options tailored around these shows will also be added (For instance, UC Browser users get to vote and decide who stays in the Big Boss house).

Last but not the least, UCWeb also brought its We-Media program to India. We-Media will provide a platform for key influencers, celebrity bloggers and quotidian users to express their opinions over a range of issues.

Commenting on the growth and new strategy, Jack Huang, President Overseas business, Alibaba Mobile Business Group said, “Our new milestone of reaching 450 million MAUs has placed us at par with Twitter and Instagram.  Our vision in the coming years after success in India, is to serve half the population of the planet. Our strategy is to focus on globalization, which is going global by offering localized solutions in each market. We believe this strategy will lead us to a new digital era, which is GUF – Google, UCWeb and Facebook.”

Speaking about the collaboration, Raj Nayak, CEO of Colors TV said, “Alliances are not just for visibility. Sometimes it is about ensuring the best user experience for consumers and enhanced viewer experience. At COLORS, we have always believed in conducting business that meets our consumer’s needs. Today, our viewers are mostly mobile owing to which we can draw synergies with a popular mobile browser like UC Browser, thereby making our content appealing to audiences regardless of the type of screen they’re using. With content on-the-go becoming a lucrative option for today’s viewers, associating with a brand like UC Browser, for shows including Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, Bigg Boss 10, Comedy Nights Live and 24: Season 2, allows us to explore different promotional strategies that make it a beneficial proposition for us.”
