Daedalic Entertainment has finally announced the release date for their much-anticipated game, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum. Originally slated for release in 2021, the game had multiple delays, but it is now set to release on May 15 for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. While a release date for the Nintendo Switch version has not been specified, it is expected to arrive later this year.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will immerse players in the journey of the titular character as he discovers the One Ring and the events leading up to The Lord of the Rings trilogy. The game’s unique blend of action and stealth mechanics will require players to sneak past enemies in Middle-earth, while also reflecting on the complexity of Gollum’s character. Players will have to make decisions based on the character’s darker side or his gentler persona, Smeagol.
As the game is set to release in May, it will face stiff competition from AAA titles like Street Fighter 6, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Final Fantasy XVI, and Diablo IV. Nonetheless, fans of The Lord of the Rings franchise are eagerly anticipating this new addition to the gaming world, and more details, including pre-order information, price, and gameplay, will be revealed by the developer in the coming weeks.
