Update: A new report from XDAdevelopers lists more eligible apps and the countries where it will be supported.

Google Pixel 4 will be the next big flagship phone launch of the year. Days or weeks before the October 15 debut, the phone has been caught in the wild, along with every key detail. Besides the Android 10 flavor, a 90Hz smooth display and the jacked-up hardware, the biggest highlight of this year’s Google crown jewel is Soli.

Soli, in simple words, is a radar-chip used for hands-free gesture navigation and even advanced Face Unlock on the Pixel 4s. Now, if you’re clueless about Soli, fret not, as it might not even ship to you. Folks at 9to5Google reports the Motion Sense feature will be available in 38 countries only, which omits some markets like India.

Conceptually, Soli uses a miniature Radar chip that will be housed on Pixel 4’s frontier. Now to use the technology, Google has already acquired FCC permission to use the sensing tech in the U.S. So, it might not have received approval from the countries missing in this list yet.

Further, they also found the list of apps that will allegedly support the Motion Sense of Pixel 4:

  • Amazon Music
  • Anghami
  • Apple Music
  • TIDAL Music
  • Wynk Music
  • iHeartRadio
  • MyMusic
  • Gaana Music
  • YouTube Music
  • Google Play Music
  • Hungama Music
  • JioSaavn
  • 지니 뮤직 (Genie Music)
  • 벅스 (Bugs Music)

Using this feature, you could likely skip songs and navigate to next or previous tracks employing mere hand gestures. However, A.T.M, we are uncertain whether it will work with apps besides the Music ones listed above. One other thing to note is that Indian Music apps like JioSaavn and Hungama Music are listed here. This could mean that Google is awaiting approval from Indian authorities.

As you know, we are still weeks away from the Pixel 4 premiere and although the barrage of leaks and rumors are good to have, we advise to take them with a pinch of salt.
