TL; DR
  • Tecno has launched the Camon 50 Ultra in India at ₹36,999 for the 8GB + 256GB variant.
  • The phone comes with a 144Hz curved AMOLED display, a 50MP 3X telephoto camera, and a 6,500 mAh battery.
  • Tecno is promising three Android updates and five years of security patches.

Tecno has launched the Camon 50 Ultra in India, expanding its camera-focused Camon lineup further into premium mid-range territory. The phone arrives in a single 8GB + 256GB configuration priced at ₹36,999 (including ₹3,000 introductory discount) and brings a spec sheet that looks pretty good, minus the chipset choice. Let’s take a look at the pricing and specifications.

Tecno Camon 50 Ultra Specifications

The Camon 50 Ultra centers around a 6.78-inch 1.5K curved AMOLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate, with a PWM dimming of 2,160 Hz. Powering the device is MediaTek’s Dimensity 7400 Ultimate chipset paired with 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage.

Around the back sits a triple-camera setup consisting of a 50MP Sony LYT-700C primary camera (1/1.56-inch f/1.8 23mm), an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 50MP telephoto camera (1/2.88-inch f/2.4 70mm) offering 3X optical zoom with OIS support. The front camera is another 50MP unit (1/2.76-inch f/2.4 21mm) with autofocus.

Tecno has fitted the phone with a 6,500 mAh battery alongside 45W wired charging support. Interestingly, the company claims the device still manages to come in at 7.75mm thick and 190 grams in weight despite the battery size.

The durability checklist is fully populated as well, with IP66, IP68, IP69, IP69K, and MIL-STD-810 certifications all making an appearance. Other additions include NFC support, a customizable hardware key, and a notification indicator light.

The Camon 50 Ultra ships with Android 16 out of the box under TECNO’s HiOS 16 skin. Tecno says the device will receive three Android version upgrades and five years of security updates.

The phone is available in three colors, including Cypress Green, Misty Purple, and Nebula Titanium.

Availability

The Tecno Camon 50 Ultra is available in India starting today through Amazon and other channels for ₹39,999. Sale begins on July 21. An introductory discount of ₹3,000 brings the price down to ₹36,999, valid from July 21-22.

Overall, I think the CAMON 50 Ultra is a pretty good option around ₹35,000 if you’re looking for a camera setup that is solid, a large battery, and decent performance. UFS 2.2 is still a bit disappointing, but the rest of the hardware is great.
