Netflix recently revealed the streaming date for the highly anticipated second season of its acclaimed South Korean drama, Squid Game, set to premiere in 2024. Alongside this announcement, it was confirmed that a third season has already been filmed and will serve as the series’ conclusion.
In early 2025, Netflix announced that Season 3 would be released shortly. The streaming date for the climactic finale of Squid Game 3 has now been officially confirmed, accompanied by a first look at the series. Both Netflix and the official Squid Game account shared the initial poster and several still images from the final season on X.

Squid Game Season 3: Streaming Date & Platform
Squid Game season 3 is set to premiere on Netflix India on June 27, 2025. This has been officially confirmed as the concluding season of the series. To recap, the first season launched in 2021, and the second season was released on December 26, 2024. The second season consisted of seven episodes, and the final season is anticipated to feature between 7 and 9 episodes.

Upon closer inspection, viewers can spot a confrontation between the doll from the Red Light, Green Light game, and Chul-su, the new boy doll set to appear in the final season. The poster effectively piques curiosity about the upcoming developments.

Squid Game Season 2: Recap

Hwang Dong-Hyuk, the creator of Squid Game, discovered while writing the sequel that the narrative had greater depth than he initially expected. The conclusion of the seventh episode in season two marked a significant turning point in the storyline. To adequately honor Gi-hun’s journey, a third season is now in the works.

Squid Game Season 2 has achieved the remarkable milestone of being the most-viewed non-English language television series, amassing over 173 million views and 1.2 billion hours of watch time since its release. The first season also set records as the most-watched show in Netflix’s history, earning 17 Emmy nominations and winning six, including awards for Best Actor in a Drama for Lee and Best Guest Actress in a Drama for Lee You-mi.
Squid Game Season 3: Cast
Returning cast members for the third season include Lee Jung-jae reprising his role as Gi-hun and Lee Byung-hun as the Front Man. The new cast will feature Park Sung-hoon, Jo Yu-ri, Kang Ae-sim, and the newcomer Park Gyu-young. Yim Siwan, Park Gyu-young, and David Lee will also be part of the season’s lineup.

Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk recently talked about season 3 revealing how the protagonist will have a dramatic transformation in the final season. He said, “Gi-hun has lost everything, including his best friend, and all his attempts have ended in failure. Now what will he do? What state will he be in? Will he continue his mission or will he give up? You’ll meet Gi-hun at a critical crossroads as we begin the third season-he will not be the same man from Season 2”.
