These days most phones come in large sizes blurring the lines betwixt phone and phablet territory. Long gone are the small-sized phones that could fit in your palm. Well, Sony might say otherwise. The Japanese conglomerate is rumored to launch the Xperia Compact, which as the name suggests will inhabit a smaller footprint.

Sony Xperia 5 was the last small phone from the brand. In case it had gone under your radar, the phone was a 2019 model that packed almost an identical set of specs as the Sony Xperia 1 including the Snapdragon 855 processor, triple rear cameras and the same front snapper. But, this time around, the said Sony Xperia Compact is expected to be positioned at a lower tier.

The key deviation from the predecessor would be that this phone runs on a Snapdragon 665 chipset, which is a low-to-mid-range processor. Besides this, the rest of its specs and features remain unknown.

Anyway, this will wear a 5.5-inch screen on the front, with a 21:9 aspect ratio. That said, the rumors claim that the new fleet of Sony phones will use the same form factor. This one, in particular, will extend to 138 × 60 mm.

Further, there is speculation that the Sony Xperia Compact is set to make its debut in MWC 2020. In case you’re wondering, Mobile World Congress will take place in Spain between 24 to 27 February 2020.

Needless to say, since much of the details are still rumors, its better to take them with a pinch of salt. We are still months away from MWC and are likely to get more info until then.
