15 Smartphones Launching in India in August 2024

The month of July witnessed the release of numerous high-end phones such as the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6. Furthermore, mid-range phones like the Nothing Phone 2a Plus, OnePlus Nord 4, and others also entered the Indian market.

Looking forward, August 2024 seems promising with as many as 15 phone launches scheduled for this month. The lineup includes the Google Pixel 9 series, Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Vivo V40 series, and iQOO Z9s series, among others. Explore their launch dates, expected prices, and key specifications below.

1. Motorola Edge 50

Launch date- 1st August (already launched)

Motorola Edge 50 sports a 6.67-inch P-OLED 1.5K curved screen with 120Hz refresh rate. It supports 1900 nits brightness and CGG5 protection. It is powered by a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset with RAM boost and a vapor chamber cooling system. At the back is a 50MP main sensor along with a 10MP telephoto lens and a 13MP ultrawide sensor. There is a 32MP front camera for selfies and under the hood is a 5000mAh battery with 68W fast charging, 15W wireless, and 5W reverse wireless support. It runs Android 14 with Hello UI on top and the brand has promised 2 years of software updates and 3 years of security patches. The Moto Edge 50 comes with AI features like Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur, Magic Editor, and more. It is priced at Rs. 27,999 for the 8GB RAM+256GB storage. It comes in Jungle Green, Pantone Peach Fuzz, and Koala Grey colors.

2. Google Pixel 9

Google Pixel 9 is Rumored to Feature a Larger Display

Launch Date- 13th August

Google will host a Made For Google event on 13th August wherein the brand will launch Pixel 9 Series. The vanilla Google Pixel 9 will most likely feature a 6.3-inch Actua panel and be powered by a Tensor G4 chipset with up to 12GB RAM. The Pixel 9 is expected to come with a 50MP wide camera and a 48MP ultrawide camera at the back. At the front will be a 10.5MP lens for selfies. It will run Android 14. Battery, charging, and other details are still under wraps. Google Pixel 9 is expected to arrive in Porcelain, Obsidian, and Pink colors.

3. Google Pixel 9 Pro

Launch date- 13th August

The Pro version in the Pixel 9 Series might also come with a 6.3-inch Actua screen. Google Pixel 9 Pro is also said to be powered by Tensor G4 SoC and features a triple camera setup at the back. The rear camera setup includes a 50MP main, 48MP ultrawide, and 48MP telephoto lens. It will run Android 14 but will later be updated to Android 15. At the front might be a 42MP selfie sensor and color options might be Hazel, Rose, Obsidian, and Porcelain.

4. Google Pixel 9 Pro XL

Launch date- 13th August

Google Pixel 9 Pro XL is a new addition to the Pixel 9 Series. It will reportedly come with a 5060mAh battery with 30W wired fast charging. It comes with up to 512GB storage onboard with up to 16GB RAM. More details will be known on the day of the launch.

5. Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold

Launch date- 13th August

The next-generation foldable, Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is expected to sport a 6.3-inch Actua cover screen and an 8-inch Super Actua Flex inner panel. Like the other devices in the Pixel 9 Series, this foldable will also be powered by a Tensor G4 chipset with up to 16GB RAM. The foldable is said to have a 4650mAh battery and sport a 10MP sensor at the front. At the back will be a 48MP primary, 10.5MP ultrawide and 10.8MP telephoto camera. It will run Android 14 and come in Porcelain and Obsidian shades.

6. OnePlus Open Apex Edition

Launch Date- 7th August

The OnePlus Open Apex Edition is being launched to pay homage to “Hasselblad 503CW 60 Years Victor Red Edition”. The foldable will come with usual Hasselblad features that are a part of the regular variant but there will be a new design.

The specs of the Apex Edition will be similar to the regular version, let us have a look at the specs of the OnePlus Open. It is powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage and runs OxygenOS 14 out of the box. The foldable boasts of a 7.82-inch Flexi Fluid LTPO 3.0 AMOLED 2K screen when unfolded while there is a 6.31-inch LTPO 3.0 AMOLED cover display with 2800 nits brightness. The displays support a 120Hz refresh rate and a pixel density of 431ppi. In terms of camera, the OnePlus Open has a triple-lens setup at the back including a 48MP main, 48MP ultrawide, and 64MP telephoto lens. At the front is a dual selfie camera setup including a 32MP and a 20MP snapper. It draws juice from a 4805mAh battery with 67W wired fast charging and weighs 239 grams. The thickness is 11.7mm.

7. Poco M6 Plus 5G

Launch Date- 1 August 2024 (already launched)

Poco has launched the Poco M6 Plus 5G smartphone that comes with a 6.79-inch FHD+ panel with 120Hz refresh rate. It is powered by a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 AE chipset paired with up to 8GB RAM and up to 128GB onboard storage. The device ships with Android 14-based HyperOS and has been promised two years of Android updates and four years of security patches. In terms of the camera, there is a 108MP main sensor at the back along with a 2MP macro lens. For selfies and video calls, there is a 13MP snapper at the front. The Poco M6 Plus draws juice from a 5030mAh battery with 33W wired fast charging. Additional features include 5G, 4G LTE, Dual-band WiFi, USB Type-C, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, an IP53 rating, and more. It is 8.3mm thick and weighs 205 grams. Poco M6 Plus has been launched in two storage configurations-

  • 6GB RAM+128GB storage-Rs. 13,499
  • 8GB RAM+128GB storage-Rs. 14,499

It comes in graphite black, ice silver, and misty lavender shades and will be available on Flipkart from 5th August.

8. Vivo V40

Launch Date- 7th August

Vivo V40 will be the successor to the Vivo 30 5G and a part of the Vivo V40 Series launching in India soon. Vivo V40 5G is expected to be powered by Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset with 8GB RAM. It will most likely feature a 6.78-inch 3D curved AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1.5K resolution. Under the hood, it will pack a 5500mAh battery with 80W wired charging, and at the back will be a 50MP main, 50MP ultrawide and 50MP telephoto sensor. It will run Android 14 OS and feature a 50MP snapper at the front for selfies. The smartphone is expected to arrive in Lotus Purple, Ganges Blue, and Titanium Grey colors and cost above Rs. 30,000.

9. Vivo V40 Pro

Launch Date- 7th August

The second member of the Vivo V40 family and the successor to Vivo V30 Pro will be the Vivo V40 Pro. The pro version is expected to be powered by MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ SoC and pack a 5500mAh powerhouse under the hood with 80W wired fast charging. It will sport a 6.78-inch 3D curved AMOLED panel with 120Hz refresh rate. The camera setup is expected to be the same as Vivo V40 and it will also run Android 14 out of the box. Vivo V40 Pro might launch in Ganges Blue and Titanium Grey shades with a price of above Rs. 40,000.

10. Infinix Note 40x 5G

Launch Date- 5th August

The Infinix Note 40x 5G smartphone is expected to cost under Rs. 15,000. It will most likely have a 6.78-inch FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate and be powered by Dimensity 6300 chipset with up to 12GB RAM and up to 256GB storage. The smartphone will pack a 5500mAh powerhouse with 18W wired fast charging speed. Camera details are still shrouded in mystery but reports claim it might have a 108MP main sensor at the back. At the front might be an 8MP selfie camera. The Infinix Note 40x 5G will run XOS 14 based on Android 14 and come in Palm Blue, Lime Green, and Starlit Black shades.

11. iQOO Z9s

Launch date- 21st August

Vivo’s sub-brand iQOO is all set to launch iQOO Z9s Series in India which will include iQOO Z9s and iQOO Z9s Pro smartphones. The iQOO Z9s is expected to cost around 30k in India. It might flaunt a 6.78-inch Curved AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and be powered by Dimensity 7300 chipset with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. The smartphone might pack a large 5500mAh battery with fast charging. There is said to be a 50MP sensor at the back and a 16MP sensor at the front for photos. iQOO Z9s is expected to come in white.

12. iQOO Z9s Pro

Launch date- 21st August

The Pro model in the iQOO Z9s series might feature a display similar to the vanilla model. The iQOO Z9s Pro is expected to be powered by Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset and pack a 5500mAh battery. The camera setup is also expected to be similar to iQOO Z9s and it will also come in a white color option.

13. Honor Magic 6 Pro

Launch date- 2nd August (announced)

 Honor Magic 6 Pro has arrived in India today. It comes in a single storage model of 12GB RAM+512GB storage for Rs. 89,999. It comes in black and epi green shades and will be available from 15th August.

Honor Magic 6 Pro is the successor to Magic 5 Pro which did not launch in India. Honor Magic 6 Pro is powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset with an Honor C1+ chip for connectivity. It boasts of a 6.8-inch OLED LTPO screen with 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, 5000 nits brightness, and NanoCrystal Shield to make it drop-resistant. The Magic 6 Pro flaunts a 108MP periscope telephoto camera along with a 50MP main and 50MP ultrawide lens at the back. At the front is a 50MP selfie camera with a 3D depth sensor. It also comes with Honor AI Motion Sensing capture for various sports. The device packs a 5600mAh battery with 80W wired charging and ships with MagicOS 8.0 based on Android 14 out of the box. It has an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

14. Oppo A3x

Launch date- 2nd August (launched)

Oppo has silently launched the A3x entry-level smartphone in India. Oppo A3x is priced at Rs. 12,499 for the 64GB variant and Rs. 13,499 for the 128GB version. It comes in sparkle black, starry purple, and starlight white colors and will be available on the Oppo website from 7th August.

The Oppo A3x is powered by a Dimensity 6300 chipset with Mali G57 MC2 GPU, 4GB RAM, and 128GB storage. It comes with a 6.67-inch HD+ panel with 1000 nits brightness and 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood is a 5100mAh powerhouse with 45W wired charging support. In terms of camera optics, there is a 32MP primary sensor at the back and a 5MP sensor at the front. The device has passed MIL-STD 810H military-grade test for durability and connectivity options include dual-band WiFi, 5G, 4G LTE, Bluetooth, GPS, USB Type-C port, and data sync.

15. HMD Barbie Flip Phone

Launch date- 28th August

Nokia maker HMD is all set to launch HMD Barbie Flip Phone on 28th August. The company confirmed the launch via a post on X stating that the Barbie Flip Phone will come in an iconic pink color scheme inspired by Barbie and run S30+ or KaiOS. It is being made in partnership with Barbie Toys maker Mattel and is expected to be a classic feature phone and not a modern-day smartphone. It will be based on a detox theme.
