Samsung makes one of the most popular foldable phones. Its Galaxy Z lineup has sold tens of millions of units over the past few years, signifying how users accept the relatively newer form factor. However, it’s not like the Samsung foldables don’t have weak points. For instance, users often criticize the inferior cameras on the company’s foldables, given that other brands’ models now have better sensors. Further, the noticeable hinge on the Z Flip 5 is still a point of criticism.

Galaxy Z Fold 6’s Main Screen Could Come With A Different Aspect Ratio

However, that might change with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z foldable series. Per a post on the Korean blogging platform Naver, Samsung’s upcoming foldable, i.e., the Galaxy Fold 6, might come with a different screen aspect ratio than the current model in the market. With foldables, the inner screen’s dimensions define the phone’s overall dimensions, including the size and shape of the cover screen.

This Could Also Mean A Change In The Cover Screen’s Dimensions

Hence, if the dimensions of the internal screen change, the cover screen will also have a different shape and size. Moreover, if the leak turns out to be accurate, the Galaxy Fold 6 from Samsung might have a different shape and size altogether. Although the tipster doesn’t mention the exact aspect ratio and dimensions of the phone, the information comes from sources in the company’s supply chain. Hence, there’s a good chance it could be true.

It is important to mention that other tablet-like foldables, such as the OnePlus Open or the Oppo Find N3 Flip, have a different form factor. They feature a shorter cover screen, making it more usable than the tall cover screen on the Galaxy Z Fold 5. Hence, changing the cover display’s size would improve the user experience.

Galaxy Z Flip 6 Could Come With A Thinner Hinge

Further, the tipster also mentions that the Galaxy Z Flip 6 could come with a new bezel, which should be thinner than the Z Flip 5. The new cover-display shape on the Flip 5 is also said to have some noticeable changes. Although the leak doesn’t mention this, Samsung could go for an all-screen design, like what we’ve seen on the Moto Razr 40 Ultra. Samsung would also like to improve the inner screen to match the Find N3 Flip.
