For years, Galaxy Z Flip users have had one complaint – poor battery life. Yes, the phone feels good and sturdy and offers flagship-tier performance. However, regarding battery life, several reviews have highlighted that the Flip phones aren’t the best in the market, especially since Samsung prices them on par with the mainstream flagships with better battery life. Nonetheless, that could change this year, as a recent Galaxy Z Flip 6 report suggests battery-related improvements.

Galaxy Z Flip 6 To Feature Two Battery Cells

According to a report by GalaxyClub, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 could come with a 4,000 mAh battery. Although the number might sound smaller at first, it is a considerable improvement from the 3,700 mAh battery on the Galaxy Z Flip 5 that came out last year. It is important to mention that the Z Flip 5 performs well in every aspect except battery life. Hence, the improved battery capacity could help Samsung remedy that.

The report indicates the phone could feature two battery cells of different capacities. While the smaller cell is rated at 1,097 mAh, the larger cell is rated at 2,790 mAh. Since the phone bends in half, the company has to go with two battery cells (one in each folded half) instead of one large cell that doesn’t fold.

The Phone Will Have A Total Capacity Of 3,887 mAh

Together, these cells result in a total capacity of 3,887 mAh, which isn’t precisely 4,000 mAh, but that’s how companies market the batteries. For instance, the Galaxy S24 has a rated battery capacity of 3,880 mAh, while the company markets it as 4,000 mAh. Nonetheless, with software optimizations and more efficient hardware, the Z Flip 6 should last an entire day of typical usage.

Other Improvements Expected For The Galaxy Z Flip 6

Apart from the battery capacity, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 is also said to get camera and screen upgrades. According to recent reports, the smartphone could feature a 50MP primary sensor instead of the 12MP primary sensor on the Z Flip 5. Further, it could ship with a 3.9-inch cover screen, slightly larger than the 3.4-inch cover screen on the Z Flip 5. Further, the upcoming flip-style foldable should be slightly wider than the one in circulation.

Based on the current trend, the Galaxy Z Flip 6, along with the Fold 6, should run on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. This should give the phones a significant performance upgrade compared to their predecessor. Hence, with the improved battery capacity, performance, screen, and cameras, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 should serve well as an all-round smartphone.
