Redmi 9 is here, which happens to be the fifth phone in the 9 series which already comprise of Redmi Note 9 Pro Max, Redmi Note 9 Pro, Redmi Note 9, and Redmi 9 Prime. As you can guess from the name, it will be the most affordable Redmi phone that has launched this year. Still, it packs a gaming-centric MediaTek G85 processor, coupled with 4GB RAM and 5000mAh battery inside. It is also the first Redmi phone with MIUI 12 software in India.

Redmi 9 Features

Redmi 9 sports a 6.53-inch HD+ IPS display with a 20:9 aspect ratio. The phone comes in 3 popping colors viz. Orange, Blue, and Black.

Within the waterdrop notch, you get a 5MP selfie snapper. Flip to the back you get a 13MP+ 2MP dual camera setup. The camera highlights include AI scene detection, Portrait selfie mode, and Pro Mode on the rear camera.

Beneath the squircle camera bump, lies a fingerprint reader.

Inside, as already mentioned, the phone bears a Mediatek Helio G35 chipset, coupled with 4GB of RAM. The storage options are 64GB and 128GB with memory card expansion up to 512GB. There is also a 5000mAh battery inside that is backed by a 10W charger.

On top of all these, you have the Android 10 based MIUI 12. Amongst other things, you also get a 3.5mm headphone jack, micro-USB socket, VoWiFi, 4G, Bluetooth 5.0, and GPS.

Redmi 9 Price and Availability

Redmi 9 base model with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage is priced at Rs. 8,999 whilst the bigger 128GB variant will carry a price tag of Rs. 9,999. They will go on sale in India via Amazon.in, Mi.com, Mi Home, and offline stores starting the 31st of August.
