After a hiatus in the Pro flagship lineup since the Realme GT 2 Pro last year, Realme is making a notable return with the launch of the Realme GT5 Pro in China. Marking a significant step for the Chinese brand, this flagship device boasts specifications that might lead you to believe it’s akin to the OnePlus 12 when examining the impressive spec sheet. The introduction of the Realme GT5 Pro signals a renewed focus on the high-end segment for Realme.
Realme GT5 Pro Specifications
The latest addition to Realme’s lineup is equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, a robust 5,400mAh battery supporting 100W wired charging, and a notable 50W wireless charging feature. The device also boasts an OLED screen with an impressive maximum brightness of 4,500 nits. Realme highlights the screen’s versatility, reaching 1,000 nits through manual adjustments and achieving a remarkable “global maximum brightness” of 1,600 nits. This comprehensive feature set positions the new handset as a compelling option in the high-performance smartphone segment.
Despite sharing similarities with the latest OnePlus phone, the Realme introduces several noteworthy changes. One notable distinction is the Realme’s adoption of a 1.5K 144Hz display, deviating from the QHD+ 120Hz panel found in its counterpart. Impressively, this screen also offers the flexibility to scale down to as low as 0.5Hz, catering to diverse user preferences.
Additionally, Realme takes a unique approach to its rear camera setup. While featuring the same 50MP LYT-808 main camera as the OnePlus 12, accompanied by a standard 8MP ultrawide lens (IMX355), the company is distinguishing itself in the realm of camera zoom capabilities, signaling an elevated focus on imaging innovation.
Realme GT5 Pro Camera
The Realme GT5 Pro differentiates itself in the camera department, featuring a 50MP 3x periscope camera equipped with the flagship IMX890 sensor. This configuration, reminiscent of the OPPO Find X6 Pro, suggests a commitment to exceptional image quality, particularly in low-light conditions. Notably, the periscope camera boasts a 6x lossless zoom capability, enhancing its versatility for capturing a diverse range of scenes.
Old Google and LG Gesture Feature
In addition to the 32MP selfie camera, Realme introduces a distinctive feature to the front of the phone reminiscent of the LG G8. The company is innovating with palm-based capabilities, allowing users to unlock the device seamlessly. Realme describes the process, stating, “When the display is off, just open your palm and bring it close to the screen to turn on the screen and quickly unlock it.” This unique approach adds a touch of convenience and novelty to the user experience.
Realme GT5 Pro Price
The Realme GT5 Pro is priced at 3,399 yuan (~$479) in China for the 12GB/256GB model, with a promotional offer at 3,298 yuan (~$465). The pricing goes up to 4,299 yuan (~$606) for the 16GB/1TB variant. While Realme has stated that there are no current plans for a global launch, it’s worth noting that the predecessor, Realme GT2 Pro, eventually saw a global release. Thus, the possibility of a broader launch for the GT5 Pro in 2024 cannot be ruled out entirely.
