Since Apple has stepped into the VR/MR category with its premium Vision Pro, more players are looking forward to the emerging market. However, there’s one company that’s been around more than Apple: Meta. Most recently, the company’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, shared his review of the Vision Pro, suggesting how Meta’s Quest 3 is the better device for most users, especially since it costs a fraction of what Apple’s MR headset does.

Zuckerberg Hinted About Bringing Back Eye-Tracking In A Video

In the video, Zuckerberg also mentioned some features that aren’t there on the Quest 3, such as eye-tracking. However, he also stated that eye-tracking was present on the original Quest Pro, and the company will bring the feature back in the future. It turns out that the Meta headset, which could bring eye-tracking and perhaps OLED screens, is not that far away.

Meta And LG To Meet On February 28 To Discuss Quest 2 Pro

According to a Korean publicationHankyung, Zuckerberg is about to meet LG’s CEO, Cho Joo-Wan, in South Korea on February 28, 2024. These two leaders will reportedly discuss and finalize the details of the Quest 2 Pro XR headset. Per the report, both companies wish to release the next-generation headset by the first quarter of 2025.

webOS For Meta AI: Companies Could Exchange Their Technologies For Better Devices

The report also mentions that Meta’s Quest 2 Pro could come with LG’s webOS, an optimized version of the operating system that LG provides in its smart TVs. Even though the deal between the companies isn’t final, webOS will be combined with Meta AI on the Quest 2 Pro if it goes through. Regarding the headset’s price, the current generation Quest Pro starts at $999.99. However, the upcoming product cost somewhere around $2,000.

The scope of the meeting also includes the integration of Meta AI into several LG products, such as smart televisions, home appliances, and more. This is not the first time we’ve heard about a possible collaboration between the two companies. In September 2023, UploadVR spotted a report in the Maeil Business Newspaper about the two companies’ partnership to discuss the future of Quest Pro.
