TL; DR
- Qualcomm is reportedly developing multiple new Snapdragon 8-series chipsets, including two flagship 2nm platforms.
- Tipster Digital Chat Station claims the company is preparing both Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipsets with next-generation Oryon CPU cores.
- Qualcomm is also said to be working on refreshed 3nm chips.
Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon roadmap has surfaced online, and it appears the company is preparing a much broader premium chipset lineup than in previous years.
According to Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station, Qualcomm is currently developing at least two flagship smartphone chipsets based on a 2nm process, alongside several refreshed 3nm platforms aimed at different price and performance tiers.
The first chip, carrying the model number SM8975, is expected to debut as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. The tipster claims this chipset will use Qualcomm’s next-generation 2+3+3 Oryon CPU architecture, paired with 16MB of shared L2 cache. Graphics duties could be handled by a new Adreno 850 GPU featuring 18MB of GMEM.

The chipset is also tipped to support both LPDDR6 and LPDDR5X RAM, making it Qualcomm’s first smartphone platform to offer support for the newer memory standard. Recent reports suggest that flagship smartphones launching in late 2027 could be among the first to adopt LPDDR6 memory.
Alongside the Pro variant, Qualcomm is reportedly preparing another 2nm chipset under the model number SM8950, which is expected to launch as the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6.
While both chips are said to share the same CPU architecture and cache configuration, the standard version could feature a slightly toned-down Adreno 845 GPU with 12MB of GMEM. The chipset is reportedly limited to LPDDR5X memory support, suggesting Qualcomm may use it in a wider range of premium smartphones where efficiency and cost are equally important.

The leak also mentions several additional Snapdragon 8-series platforms based on TSMC’s 3nm process. Among them is the existing SM8850 (Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5) and a refreshed variant carrying the SM8850Q model number. The latter could arrive as a higher-clocked or special edition version of the current flagship chip.
Another platform, currently identified as SM8845 Pro, is also said to be in development. Early information suggests it could sit between the current and next-generation flagship platforms, offering incremental improvements over existing Snapdragon 8-series processors.
Qualcomm typically unveils its flagship Snapdragon platforms during its annual Snapdragon Summit, which usually takes place in the second half of the year.
