Snapdragon G3 Gen 3 Supports Hardware-Accelerated Ray Tracing

Of the three new chipsets, the Snapdragon G3 Gen 3 happens to be the most powerful. It supports Lumen by Unreal Engine (a dynamic global illumination and reflection system), offers 30% faster CPU (1+5+3 Kryo cores) performance, and 28% faster Adreno A32 GPU that supports hardware-accelerated ray tracing.

Additional features of the Snapdragon G3 Gen 3 chipset include support for QHD+ screens with up to 144Hz refresh rate, Wi-Fi 7 for faster download/upload speeds and reduced latency, and Bluetooth v5.3 for stable connection with peripherals. Moreover, the chip provides enough power for on-device gaming at higher settings.

Snapdragon G2 Gen 2 Can Handle QHD+ Screens At Up To 144Hz

Then there’s the Snapdragon G2 Gen 2 chipset, which is slightly less powerful than the G3 Gen but offers a significant upgrade over its predecessor. For instance, it has a 2.3x faster CPU (1+4+3 Kryo cores) and a 3.8x times faster Adreno A22 GPU that can handle QHD+ screens at up to 144Hz.

The chipset brings support for Snapdragon Game Super Resolution for upscaling games and the Adreno Frame Motion Engine 2.0 for artificial frame generation. Connectivity options on the chipset include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.3, and optional 5G (like the Snapdragon G3 Gen 3).

Snapdragon G1 Gen 2 Is Designed For Cloud Gaming

Last but not least, there’s the Snapdragon G1 Gen 2 chipset, which is primarily meant for cloud gaming. It provides 1080p gameplay at 120 FPS over Wi-Fi 5 (and Bluetooth v5.1). The CPU (2+6 Kryo cores) offers an 80% improvement, while the Adreno A12 GPU is a 25% improvement over the predecessor.

Given that it is focused on cloud gaming, the Snapdragon G1 Gen 2 excels at efficiency rather than performance.
