Qualcomm Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 SoC Announced for Entry-Level 5G Smartphones

Leading chipmaker Qualcomm has announced a new Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 SoC for entry-level 5G smartphones. It is a budget version of the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 that came out in 2023. The highlights of the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chipset include peak speeds up to 2GHz, 4nm processing node, 90fps FHD+ displays, and more. It features a powerful modem for Gigabit 5G connectivity and supports 5G SA.

Snapdragon 4s Gen 2: Availability

The chipmaker has announced that Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 will ship with entry-level smartphones at the end of 2024. Mostly, devices under 10k will be powered by this chipset and Xiaomi is expected to be the first brand to launch a smartphone with Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 SoC.

Snapdragon 4s Gen 2: Features

The Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chipset comes with 2 Kyro Prime CPUs with up to 2GHz clock speeds along with 6 Kyro efficiency CPUs at 1.8GHz clock speeds. It is built on the Samsung 4nm 4LPX process and is equipped with a built-in Snapdragon 5G Modem- RF system. The SoC offers download speeds of up to 1Gbps and supports Adreno GPU. In terms of sound, it comes with Qualcomm Aqstic audio codec with Total Harmonic Distortion and a low-signal-to-noise ratio for authentic audio reproduction.

The chipset supports up to 16MP+ 16MP dual camera with 30 Fps Zero Shutter Lag, 32MP single camera with 30fps Shutter Lag, and 108MP Photo capture. It is equipped with a Spectra Image Signal processor that can capture video at 60fps.

The Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 supports on-device display support FHD+/HD+ at 90Hz refresh rate LPDDR4X RAM, and UFS 3.1 storage. It comes with integrated WiFi 5 mobile connectivity chipset along with support for Bluetooth 5.1, and WPA3 security. Additional features include GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, NavIC, QZSS, Dual Frequency GNSS, USB 3.2 Gen 1, USB-C, and Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ technology.
