Oppo Unwraps its Selfie Smartphones R9 And R9 Plus In China

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer Oppo has showcased its new selfie-centered high-end smartphones Oppo R9 and R9 Plus in its motherland, China. Both the devices sports an identical metal-clad design and run on Android 5.1 Lollipop based Color OS 3.0. Like Samsung Galaxy S7, these two smartphones also integrate home button with a fingerprint sensor.

Under the hood, Oppo R9 comes fitted with an octa-core Helio P10 chipset in which half the cores are ticking at 2GHz while remaining four are at 1GHz. On the other hand, its taller sibling features a 64-bit Snapdragon 652 chipset which consists of four Cortex-A72 cores clocked at 1.8GHz and other four Cortex A-53 enthralling at 1.2GHz. Both the smartphones features 4GB RAM and 64B ROM with an additional hybrid microSD card support up to 128GB.

The Oppo R9 houses a 5.5-inch fullHD AMOLED display with minimal 1.66mm bezel on the sides. Similarly, the Oppo R9 flashes a 6-inch 1080P AMOLED display with 79.3 percent body-to-screen ratio. Both R9 and R9 Plus sports a 16MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture and 78.1-degree wide-angle lens as per company claims.

The only major difference in optics of both the phones is in their rear camera. Oppo R9 comes with 13MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture, a 5P element lens, LED Flash, and also support 4K video recording. The Plus variant comes equipped with a 16MP rear camera with Sony IMX298, PDAF, f/2.0 aperture, 5P lens, and LED Flash.
