Are Oppo & OnePlus pulling out of European Markets? Read on to find out

0

Tech brands Oppo and OnePlus have been in a fix for the last few months due to their ongoing issues with Nokia. Now, some wild rumors are surfacing online that both the tech giants Oppo and OnePlus are pulling out of European markets. Reliable tipster Max Jambor has shared this information and since his information is rarely wrong, this piece of news might be true as well.

Max Jambor apparently got some information from the company and he also added that the companies will first leave Germany, the UK, France, and the Netherlands. The reason behind this development will be patented. Oppo and OnePlus have been facing issues with Nokia in terms of patents wherein Nokia even pulled the lawsuit card which stopped the OnePlus and Oppo sales in Germany.

For those unaware, Nokia sued Oppo and OnePlus over 5G patents and told them that they can avoid the sales ban if they opt to renew their license on specific terms. Since then companies have been trying to talk out a resolution, but obviously, nothing has worked out till now. The question is if it is really worth ditching an entire continent over 5G patents and the royalties for them.

Well, ditching the entire Europe might not be the case as Jambor posted an update saying the move might not affect Europe entirely. So nothing will be known till Oppo and OnePlus actually make an official announcement.

Europe is a huge market so this will be a very odd step by OnePlus and Oppo. If the news is true, then it seems like there is a huge roadblock in front of both these tech companies that have forced them to take this step.

How much this news is true and if it is then which areas of Europe will be affected by the move remains to be seen.

In a recent update OnePlus gave the following statement which confirms that the brand is not leaving Europe or UK.
