OPPO Find X8 Pro Review: Design & Build
The OPPO Find X8 Pro is a large 6.78-inch device, weighing 215 grams and measuring 8.24 mm in thickness. Sure, it’s a large device in size, but with a curved back that’s easy to hold. Plus, despite the weight, the device does not feel top-heavy or anything; in fact, the weight distribution is quite well done.
The front and back are glass-protected, and the phone is IP68 and IP69 certified, which means it can handle water immersion up to 1.5m for 30 minutes and water jet sprays. I did get the phone in water quite a few times and it did not shown any signs of damage.
The ports are standard, with a Type-C 3.2 Gen 1 port, dual nano SIM tray, a speaker, and 2x microphones at the bottom. On the top, there’s an IR blaster and another 2x microphones. The power and volume buttons are on the right, but their high placement is very inconvenient, especially since the fingerprint scanner is the the very bottom.
The Alert Slider is nice for switching between Ring, Vibrate, and Silent modes. It shows a Live Alert when doing so as well. However, for some reason, it triggers the “Find in Page” option in Google Chrome when the app is open.
The camera bump is thinner than before and has ridges around the module. The Pearl White color has a pattern that’s supposedly unique to each unit, while the Space Black is more plain. OPPO’s using Corning’s Gorilla Glass 7i on the front but we’re not sure about the glass protection on the back.
OPPO Find X8 Pro Review: Display
The OPPO Find X8 Pro features a 6.78-inch LTPO BOE AMOLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 2780 x 1264, resulting in a sharp 450 PPI. The display is micro-quad curved, which means swipe gestures feel super smooth.
It also results in slightly thicker-looking bezels compared to flat panels. While the curved design might feel smoother for gestures, it’s a subjective tradeoff depending on personal preference.
As mentioned earlier, the display is LTPO, meaning it can dial up or down the refresh rate based on the content displayed. This helps conserve battery life. The LTPO on the Find X8 Pro works effectively even in less well-lit environments, unlike some other devices which only work in bright outdoor environments.
The brightness levels range from 800 Nits in typical use to 1600 Nits in high-brightness mode and up to 4500 Nits for HDR. In my testing, the display was bright enough both outdoors and indoors. Also, the brightness didn’t change all that much when viewed from different angles.
The display uses 2160 Hz PWM dimming to reduce flicker at lower brightness levels. DC dimming is supported only above 70 nits, while PWM is used below that threshold. The panel supports a variety of HDR formats, including Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG, and is certified with TUV Rheinland Eye Comfort 4.0.
The adaptive tone feature adjusts brightness based on ambient lighting, and the screen retention feature ensures it stays on when in use. There’s also an option to switch to 1080p resolution to conserve battery. Oh, and you can record and watch videos in Dolby Vision.
OPPO Find X8 Pro Review: Speakers and Haptics
The OPPO Find X8 Pro has excellent speakers that deliver clear and loud audio. The great display paired with the stereo speaker setup makes media consumption enjoyable on this device.
The haptics are good, with smooth integration across the UI, but they fall short compared to the Pixels. They could feel tighter and more precise. The integration across the UI is great, though.
OPPO Find X8 Pro Review: Software
The OPPO Find X8 Pro runs on ColorOS 15, based on Android 15, and promises 5 years of major updates and 6 years of security patches. The software delivers a smooth and polished user experience, with excellent smoothness and well-done animations. However, transitions are not as refined, slightly breaking the flow.
Pre-installed bloatware is present, which can be disappointing for a premium device. The App Market and Global Search have a ton of ads, and the Phone Manager app sends push notifications all the time.
While most of this can be disabled, it adds unnecessary friction. A security scan for apps, even those from the Play Store, feels redundant, though it can also be disabled. The experience could’ve been cleaner, yes, but the software is very well polished and smooth.
AI Features
ColorOS 15 isn’t just about smoothness, though. It’s feature-packed too, most notably with AI. Let’s take a look at the most notable AI features on the OPPO Find X8 Pro.
Circle to Search lets you draw a circle on the screen to search for content and even songs.
Google Gemini allows you to perform tasks like setting reminders, opening apps, and answering questions with the help of Gen AI.
The AI Writer, accessible from the sidebar, gives you various tones to choose from—Formal, Polite, Artistic, Casual, or Emoji—for text generation in apps like Notes or Twitter. You can even proofread (Check) or Rewrite the text.
The AI Recording Summary can transcribe and summarize recordings, including call recordings, and supports multiple languages, including Hindi. The summaries and the transcriptions have been pretty accurate for me.
Speaking of which, AI Summary works in browsers to condense web page content, and AI Speak can read text aloud, allowing you to to listen to articles and other text on the go. You can even change the speed and the voice of the speaker.
The AI Assistant for Notes feature gives you formatting options, such as bullet points and tables, and allows you to make the text more concise or elaborate. You can even change the tone to formal or casual. Or, if you don’t want to write, you can use the “Continue writing” feature.
The AI Studio Reimagine feature allows you to transform photos into various styles, including Game, GTA, Line Art, Alebrije, Mosaic, Coffee, Fairy Tale, Sand, Picasso, Manga, American, Van Gogh, Watercolor, Oil Painting, Clay, Metal, 3D Cartoon, Felted Doll, and Crayon Drawing.
You can even generate AI portraits of yourself. This is accessible via the AI Studio app, which is tied to your OPPO account. Getting started, you’ll get 5000 credits. Each AI portrait generation (four images) will cost you 10 credits but you can earn those back by checking in daily. AI Studio Reimagine is costs 5 credits.
The Gallery app includes features like AI Eraser, which removes unwanted objects or people, and AI Photo Remaster, which offers tools like Unblur and Clarity Enhance to improve photos. AI Reflection Remover helps remove reflections in photos, but it doesn’t seem to work on all images.
Finally, the new Documents app supports various file formats, including PDFs and PPTs, with integrated features to view and manage different kinds of documents. You can even summarize and use AI to alter your text here too, just like you would in the Notes app.
Most of these AI features require an internet connection, so you won’t be able to leverage them offline. Also, while they add some convenience, it really boils down to individual use cases and ethics.
OPPO Find X8 Pro Review: Biometrics
The OPPO Find X8 Pro features an optical fingerprint scanner, but its placement is quite low on the display. This is a bit inconvenient, especially since the power button is positioned very high. I believe OPPO raised the power button because of the Quick Button, which is also placed on the right side of the frame.
Anyway, you also get 2D face unlock, which works well in daylight. In low-light, it uses the screen to compensate for the dark environment. However, it’s not very secure, so I’d recommend sticking to your optical fingerprint scanner.
OPPO Find X8 Pro Review: Performance
The OPPO Find X8 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset, built on all big-core architecture. It consists of 1x 3.63 GHz Cortex-X925, 3x 3.30 GHz Cortex-X4, and 4x 2.40 GHz Cortex-A720 cores. For graphics, it uses the Mali-G925 Immortalis-MC12 GPU.
The device comes with 16 GB LPDDR5X/5T RAM, clocked at 10.7 GB/s and 512 GB UFS 4.0 storage in India. We have the same 16/512 configuration.
Synthetic Benchmarks
In synthetic benchmarks, the Dimensity 9400 showed varying results depending on whether performance mode was enabled. Let’s take a close look.

However, these are just synthetic benchmarks and should be taken with a heavy pinch of salt. In real-world usage, the experience with the OPPO Find X8 Pro has been really great. And to prove this, here are some gaming results.
Gaming Performance
In terms of gaming, the OPPO Find X8 Pro performed well across various titles. In COD: Warzone Mobile, I played at High graphics (un-capped FPS) settings. The Resolution was set to High and so was the Shadow Quality.
I managed to get an average FPS of 58, with a max temperature of 39.3°C and an average power draw of 4.57W. Although the device doesn’t support Peak graphics, it still delivered a smooth gaming experience.
In BGMI on Smooth + Extreme+ (90FPS) settings, the average FPS was 89, with a max temperature of 38.2°C and a 5% low FPS of 81.2. The average power draw was 2.79W.
In Honkai: Star Rail, the device played well at the maximum settings, achieving an average FPS of 59.1, with a max temperature of 39°C and an average power draw of 3.25W. This is pretty impressive.
In Genshin Impact, the device performed similarly well with an average FPS of 58.9, a max temperature of 38.1°C, and a slightly higher average power draw of 4.03W.
So, what’s the conclusion? Gaming on the Find X8 Pro is smooth, with no major overheating. Despite the lack of Peak settings in COD: Warzone Mobile, other optimized titles such as Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail run smoothly.
OPPO Find X8 Pro Review: Cameras
The Oppo Find X8 Pro features a camera system with four rear sensors and one front sensor, all with 50 MP resolution (except the selfie, which is 32 MP). This arrangement allows a wide zoom range from 0.6x (ultrawide) to 6x optical zoom, covering focal lengths from 15 mm to 135 mm.
Main Camera
The main camera of the OPPO Find X8 Pro is a 50 MP Sony LYT 808 (1/1.4-inch) paired with a f/1.6 lens with OIS. This camera excels in both daylight and low-light—vibrant colors, accurate skin tones, and high levels of detail. The photos have good HDR, too. In low light, the camera still performs will, with good exposure and minimal noise.
Zero Shutter & Live Photos
The Zero Shutter Lag feature is supported by the Live Photos function, which allows the camera to capture 1.5 seconds before and 1.5 seconds after the shutter is pressed—total 3 seconds.
This is useful for fast-moving subjects or capturing spontaneous moments. The results are quite good in daylight and decent in low-light. It works for the front camera also.
Action Mode
Action Mode can capture fast-moving subjects with a high shutter speed, reducing blur but slightly boosting contrast, which affects color accuracy. Here are some samples:
Ultra-wide
The 50 MP Samsung ISOCELL JN5 ultrawide camera features a f/2.0 aperture with a 120-degree FOV and AF. It performs well in daylight, with minimal noise and good HDR (not as good as the main). However, in low light, noise appears, and the overall image softens.
3x Periscope
The 3x periscope lens is a 50 MP Sony IMX882 sensor with a 73mm focal length and f/2.65 aperture. This lens uses the W-style periscope design, which bounces light through a tetraprism system. It has OIS, too.
In daylight, the 3x performs well with good dynamic range, and in low light, it softens up a little bit but the image quality is still decent. The HDR is good, though highlight control could be improved.
6x Periscope
The 6x periscope lens is the standout zoom lens of the OPPO Find X8 Pro. It uses a 50 MP Sony IMX858 (1/2.51-inch) paired with an f/4.3 135 mm lens. It has OIS and AF, too. This lens is capable of capturing detailed and vibrant shots with excellent HDR most of the time.
The 6x zoom offers good balance for subjects at a distance, and the image quality remains sharp and clear, even when zoomed in. I could get some good-looking shots at 300 mm (13.3x) and 600 mm (26.6x), too. Here are the samples:
However, due to the small f/4.3 aperture, low light performance can be tricky, with noise creeping into shots due to the smaller aperture. Despite this, the lens performs very well.
Selfies
Selfies on the OPPO Find X8 Pro are very good thanks to its 32 MP front camera. The HDR performance is excellent and the colors are vibrant, even in challenging conditions.
Facial details are captured well, but the beauty modes are also available for those who want a smoother appearance. The portrait mode also has a nice bokeh and the edge detection is on-point.
AI Telescopic Zoom
The AI Telescopic Zoom feature is designed for zoom levels 10x and beyond. Using AI, the camera enhances details and sharpness in the photo, reducing artifacts or blurriness that often occur at such high zoom levels.
The pop-up menu on the screen allows users to toggle the AI-enhanced zoom on or off. So, if you’re like me who prefers to avoid any artificial enhancements, you have the option to turn it off.
Macro
The macro performance of the OPPO Find X8 Pro is best achieved using the 6x periscope lens, which has a minimum focus distance of around 35cm, allowing for impressive close-up shots. It is far superior to the 3x periscope lens, which has a much longer minimum focus distance of maybe 70 cm.
While the macro mode on the 3x lens utilizes the main sensor to crop into the image, it often results in lower quality with too much digital sharpening. For the best macro shots, you should be using the 6x lens and the cropping in. Here are some samples:
Portraits
The OPPO Find X8 Pro does great in portrait photography, with multiple focal lengths for versatile shot composition. The Hasselblad portrait mode ensures natural skin tones, soft background bokeh, and vibrant colors.
The lens options for portraits include 23mm, 35mm, 48mm, 73mm, 85mm, and 135mm focal lengths. I particularly liked the 3x, 6x, and 48mm at 2x focal lengths for portrait shots. These give out pleasing results with smooth bokeh and well-defined subject features. The 6x portrats, however have smoothened out skin/face in most shots.
Additionally, the camera supports various film simulations like CC Film, NC Film, and NH Film. There’s also a soft light feature which works best for backlit subjects. You have three options to choose from: Misty, Glowing, and Dreamy.
Master Mode
The Master Mode gives you a more professional approach to photography, with control over sharpness, saturation, contrast, and vignetting before shooting. It also allows you to shoot in RAW Auto & RAW Pro.
Speaking of which, Master Mode comes with Auto Mode and Pro Mode options. Pro Mode allows manual adjustments of ISO, shutter speed, and focus, while Auto Mode does everything auto. You still have the other controls, though.
While Master Mode doesn’t support features like Night Mode or the fancy features like Action Mode, Live Photos, 120x zoom, etc., it’s a great option for users who want to shoot professionally without delving into the complexities of full Pro Mode settings.
The photos produced in Master Mode tend to have softer sharpening and pleasing results, even with default settings. I really enjoyed using the Master Mode when I did, and here are some samples:
Quick Button
Now, onto the Quick Button. It’s placement is quite inconvenient, especially in the portrait mode. Nevertheless, it allows you to launch the camera app with a double-press and capture photos/videos with a single press.
The haptic feedback adds a tactile response, making it feel satisfying to use. However, for those with less steady hands, it may cause slight shakes during photo capture, so it’s just better to use the on-screen shutter. Then, you can also use the touch-sensitive button to zoom when you are in landscape mode.
Videos
The OPPO Find X8 Pro can shoot 4K30 and 4K60 HDR (Dolby Vision) video from all of its cameras, including the front camera. Lens switching is smooth during video recording, with no noticeable exposure shifts between the different lenses, whether switching from ultrawide to main or periscope.
The stabilization in both 4K30 and 4K60 videos is top-notch. The camera handles low light video well, maintaining good HDR and preserving detail even in dim environments. The highlight control needs to be worked on, though.
The OPPO Find X8 Pro also comes with 4 studio-level mics, which can record audio in excellent quality. These mics outperform the typical 2-mic setups found on many smartphones.
OPPO Find X8 Pro Review: Battery Life and Charging
The OPPO Find X8 Pro comes with a large 5,910 mAh battery. With very heavy use, including around 3 hours of camera usage, gaming, and outdoor usage, the device provides a screen-on time of about 4.5 to 5 hours. This is quite commendable, especially given the constant use of 5G.
Under more typical usage, such as social media apps, music streaming, and some gaming, the device performs well with around 8 hours of screen-on time. For light use, the device can easily stretch to around 9-10 hours of screen-on time.
As for charging, the OPPO Find X8 Pro supports 80W fast charging, with an 80W SUPERVOOC charger included in the box. This charger is a USB-A to USB-C cable, which is not my favorite, but it takes about 50 minutes to fully charge the device.
The phone also supports PD (Power Delivery) charging, though the exact speed is unclear, but, as per my testing, it should be in the 45W-60W range. The OPPO Find X8 Pro also supports 50W magnetic wireless charging. You can also use any Qi wireless charger to charge it wireless, also.
Review Verdict: Should You Buy the OPPO Find X8 Pro?
