OnePlus 6 Selfie Portrait Mode, Battery Percentage in Status Bar added with OxygenOS 5.1.6

Pretty soon, OnePlus 6 (Review) users will be able to shoot selfies with blurred background from the front camera. The firm has started rolling out OxygenOS 5.1.6 update for its latest flagship killer, which will enable Portrait mode for the front camera along with other nifty benefits, including the battery percentage on the status bar.

OnePlus 6 OxygenOS 5.1.6 Features

The OnePlus 6 OxygenOS 5.1.6 over-the-air (OTA) update is 223MB in size and has May 2018 Android security patch. It is rolling out for all users in phases. Here’s everything you need to know about the update:

The OxygenOS 5.1.6 will fix network issues including the support for Idea VoLTE services and stability issues for dual-SIM cards. Apart from the portrait mode on the front camera, the new update also adds a preview for ‘Light Bokeh effect’ for the handset’s rear camera.

Other notable features of the new OxygenOS include optimized call clarity, scheduled DND mode, dual-4G network option in SIM and network settings, optimized power consumption, and improved system stability, improved ringtone volume and sound quality. It also allows you to automatically answer incoming calls when connecting to Bluetooth devices with Earphone mode.

OnePlus was recently in the news for a security glitch. As noticed by a researcher at Edge Security, the bootloader isn’t fully locked and a hacker with physical access to your phone could add all sorts of malware to your phone. The fix for the same will roll out in the next update.

Just to recall, the OnePlus 6 sports 6.28-inch display, Snapdragon 845 SoC, up to 8GB of RAM, up to 128GB storage space, 3300mAh battery, 16MP+20MP rear camera sensor, and 16MP front camera. The handset retails in India at a starting price of Rs 34,999 on Amazon.in, OnePlus official stores, and authorized retail outlets.
