As OnePlus gears up to launch its next flagship, chief of operations in China, Louis Jie, posted a teaser showcasing all three cameras on the OnePlus 12. We already know that the smartphone will ship in three colors, including black, white, and green. Further, the phone is supposed to run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. However, the recent teaser has more details about the phone’s camera than ever.

The Cameras On The OnePlus 12 Look Familiar

The OnePlus 12 will feature a Sony LYT-808 sensor with 50MP resolution as the primary camera. Further, the phone will also feature a 48MP ultrawide sensor and a 64MP telephoto sensor that provides up to three times optical zoom. In addition to the three cameras, a 13-channel multi-spectral sensor enhances the sensors’ capabilities.

Even Though, The OnePlus 12 Should Click Better Images

While this is a great camera setup, it is the same combination we’ve seen on the Oppo Find N3 and the company’s latest foldable, the OnePlus Open. According to a report by GSMArena, the only change seems to be the architecture and design of the sensors per the internal design of the OnePlus 12. However, even though the smartphone has an old camera setup, it could deliver better images, courtesy of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC.

The chip manufacturer has promised that Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 comes with better image signal processing that provides features like Semantic Segmentation for improving the vibrancy and details of the images in real life. Further, the processor also provides features like an object eraser for videos and generative AI for creating images. Even though the new processor provides these features, it is up to OnePlus to implement them in its upcoming smartphone.

OnePlus 12 Launch Timeline

The OnePlus 12 will roll out in China on December 5, 2023. Although the company hasn’t revealed the international launch date, it is believed that the OnePlus 12 could come out on January 24, 2023, per a promotional offer on the website.
