Carl Pei’s Nothing has finally announced the official release date for its highly anticipated device, the Nothing Phone 2. Interestingly, the Nothing Phone 1 successor launch is scheduled just a day before the first anniversary of its predecessor, the Phone 1.

Among the notable upgrades in the Phone 2 is the incorporation of a powerful Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset and an enhanced battery, promising improved performance and longer battery life. Furthermore, the Phone 2 will mark Nothing’s entry into the US market, following the limited release of the Phone 1.

Nothing has been gradually building anticipation for its upcoming device through a series of spec teasers, a promotional strategy previously employed by Carl Pei during his tenure at OnePlus, another company he co-founded. A teaser image accompanying today’s announcement reveals that the Phone 2 will retain the distinctive “glyph” notification lights which is in live with exclusive Nothing Phone 2 renders that we shared last week. These lights serve both an aesthetic purpose and a practical function, as they can flash in various patterns to indicate different types of incoming notifications.

While the Phone 1 found moderate success as a midrange phone, in the highly competitive Indian market, the brand will be hoping to impress one and all with aggressive specs and aggressive pricing.

The Phone 2’s unique design, particularly its distinctive rear aesthetics, could potentially give it an advantage when competing for retail shelf space alongside the Chinese smartphone players-dominatexd segment. However, it is clear that Nothing will need to offer more than just an eye-catching light show to challenge the established players in the market.

The Nothing Phone 2 launch will happen on 11 July 2023, 08:30 pm IST. Interested Nothing fans can tune in to the official unveiling event on Nothing’s official website.
