Nothing’s first smartphone, Phone (1), is receiving the Nothing OS 2.5 update’s beta version. This particular software update is based on Android 14. Initially, it was only available to the Nothing Phone (2), released earlier this year. However, the update is also rolling out to the 2022 mid-range phone.
Here’s What The New Software Update Includes
The latest software update brings features like a redesigned home and lock screen customization page, with a new Atmosphere wallpaper effect. Users also get new dynamic wallpapers. An additional shortcut option and new widgets include a pedometer, screen time, and media player. The update also brings camera stability and new Glyph animation.
Per the changelog, the Nothing OS 2.5 comes with a redesigned Home Screen and Lock Screen customization page, and the Atmosphere wallpaper effect transforms users’ background photos into dynamic wallpaper. Then, there are solid color wallpapers, monochrome color theme options, and a customizable double-press power button gesture that opens and performs a chosen task.
Additional Lock Screen shortcuts include Do Not Disturb, Mute, QR code scanner, and video camera. Users running Nothing OS 2.5 can click a screenshot using a three-finger swipe gesture. There’s also a new screenshot editor menu for more advanced editing features and quick deletions. The new update also allows setting ringtones and notification sound volumes differently, with an updated volume control interface.
