The Chinese tech giant Huawei has unveiled it’s Mediapad 5 tablets at the MWC 2018 in Barcelona. The newly launched tablets include the Huawei MediaPad M5 and M5 Pro. Huawei offers MediaPad M5 in two sizes: 8-inch and 10.8-inch. The company now claims it to be the third largest tablet maker in the world.
The M5 duo features all-metal exteriors. Apart from the difference in size, both M5 almost share the same innards. They feature WQXGA IPS display with a screen resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels (359 and 280 PPI rating respectively).

Both these slates are equipped with a HiSilicon Kirin 960 processor ticking up to 2.4GHz. It is worth mentioning here that Huawei uses the same chipset in its flagship Honor 8 Pro smartphone. The slate comes with 4GB RAM and 32GB, 64GB, 128GB storage options and a microSD card slot. As for the software, the tablet will boot the Android Oreo-based EMUI 8.0 out of the box.
Coming to the imaging department, the MediaPad M5s includes a 13-megapixel rear cameras and 8-megapixel cameras on the front. There is a home button cum fingerprint scanner located right below the display. Most of the regular sensor are present in these slates. However, it is surprisingly missing the 3.5mm audio jack. The MediaPad S5 10 is aided by a 7,500mAh battery, while the MediaPad M5 8.4 is backed by a 5,400mAh battery.

The MediaPad M5 Pro share the same spec-sheet as the M5 10-inch. The only addition is the support for Huawei’s M-Pen which comes with 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity and support for tilting and shading. It is also compatible with a detachable keyboard.
MediaPad M5 Pricing and Availability
The Huawei MediaPad M5 8.5 WiFi variant prices start at EUR 349 and go up to EUR 449. The LTE variant, on the other hand, comes with a price tag of EUR 399, EUR 449 and EUR 499 respectively. The 10.8-inch model (WiFi) with 32GB storage is priced at EUR 399, 64GB for EUR 449 and 128GB for EUR 499, while the LTE variants start at EUR 449 onwards respectively.
Huawei MediaPad M5 Pro (WiFi) with 64GB and 128GB storage option is priced at EUR 499 and EUR 549 respectively, while the LTE variant comes with a price of EUR 549 and EUR 599 respectively.
