Mini has launched the Mini Cooper Countryman C in India at a price of ₹47.5 lakh (ex-showroom), marking the local assembly of the third-generation Countryman in the country for the first time. Built at BMW Group’s Chennai facility, the Countryman C slots in as the more accessible variant in the line-up, sitting below the fully imported, performance-focused JCW All4 — and undercutting it by a substantial ₹18.65 lakh.

With local assembly now in place, the Countryman’s pricing moves closer to key rivals in the segment, including the BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLA, and Audi Q3. It’s worth noting that the Countryman shares its front-wheel-drive “UKL2” platform with the BMW X1, which is also assembled locally in India — part of a broader strategy by BMW Group to localise more of its smaller SUV line-up for the Indian market.

Design and Exterior
The Countryman C carries forward the upright stance and rounded styling cues of the current generation, with cleaner surfacing compared to its predecessor. It features an octagonal grille, adaptive LED headlights, redesigned matrix LED tail-lamps, and customisable light signatures front and rear.

Champagne-finished detailing runs across the grille surround and the front and rear skid plates, extending even to the Mini logos and Countryman badge. The SUV rides on 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and is offered in five exterior colour options — Chilli Red, Smokey Green, British Racing Green, Nanuq White, and Slate Blue — with a contrasting roof finish available across the range.
In terms of dimensions, the Countryman C measures 4,447mm in length, 1,843mm in width, and 1,661mm in height, riding on a 2,692mm wheelbase with 190mm of ground clearance.

Interior and Features
Inside, Mini’s signature minimalist design language continues, built around circular motifs and a dual-tone dashboard finished with textile inserts on both the dashboard and door panels. The Countryman C gets electrically adjustable JCW Sports seats wrapped in Vescin upholstery, with the driver’s seat also featuring a massage function.

At the centre of the dashboard sits a circular 9.4-inch OLED touchscreen that handles most vehicle and infotainment functions. Other notable features include a head-up display, steering-mounted controls, a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a 360-degree camera, a panoramic glass roof, powered front seats, wireless charging, parking assist, and MINI Digital Key Plus. Drivers also get eight selectable “MINI Experience” drive modes.
Practicality hasn’t been overlooked either — the rear seats can slide by up to 130mm and recline by up to 25 degrees, while boot space stands at 505 litres, expandable to 1,450 litres with the rear seats folded down.
On safety, the Countryman C comes equipped with ADAS features including front collision warning, lane departure warning, attentiveness assist, active pedestrian protection, and reversing assist. The SUV has also secured a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating.

Powertrain
Under the hood is a 1.5-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine producing 156hp and 240Nm of torque, paired exclusively with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic sending power to the front wheels. Mini claims a 0-100kph time of 9.0 seconds and a top speed of 212kph, with a 60-litre fuel tank and a claimed fuel efficiency of 15.92kpl.

The powertrain layout closely mirrors that of the BMW X1 sDrive18i, though tuned to a slightly higher output in the Countryman C. This positions the car as a more accessible, day-to-day alternative to the range-topping 300hp Countryman JCW All4, which continues to be sold as a fully imported (CBU) model.
With local assembly now driving the price down significantly, the Countryman C gives Mini a genuinely competitive foothold in the premium compact SUV space — a segment it previously couldn’t contest as effectively while selling fully imported units.
