MG Motor India has made significant adjustments to its lineup, introducing two new trim levels for its flagship vehicle, the Hector SUV. This strategic maneuver aims to enhance the competitive positioning of the Hector against its main rivals. By implementing these changes, MG has succeeded in establishing a more enticing base price for the Hector, presenting prospective buyers with an improved value proposition.

Prior to the update, the MG Hector boasted a diverse range of trim levels including Style, Shine, Smart, Smart Pro, Sharp Pro, and Savvy Pro. However, in a strategic move, MG has introduced two new trim levels: Shine Pro and Select Pro, while removing Shine and Smart trims from the lineup.

Price

The recent pricing adjustments reveal significant changes across the Hector lineup. The base Style Petrol MT variant now boasts a substantial price reduction of Rs. 95,000, with its starting price set at Rs. 13.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Meanwhile, the Shine Pro trim kicks off at Rs. 16 lakh for the Petrol MT combination, while the Select Pro variant begins at Rs. 17.3 lakh for the Petrol MT configuration (both prices ex-showroom). These adjustments aim to enhance the accessibility and competitiveness of the Hector lineup, offering customers greater value for their investment.

This restructuring results in a streamlined hierarchy for the Hector, starting with the base Style trim and progressing through Shine Pro, Select Pro, Smart Pro, Sharp Pro, and the top-tier Savvy Pro. On the other hand, the Select Pro trim is offered across all powertrain combinations for the 5-seater Hector, with the exception of the Petrol CVT option for the 7-seater Hector Plus Select Pro variant.

The Shine Pro trim of the Hector boasts a plethora of exterior highlights, including LED DRLs, projector headlights, connected LED tail lights, and floating sequential LED indicators. It also features front and rear fog lights, along with stylish 17-inch alloys. Inside, the Shine Pro trim offers a host of premium features, such as a 14-inch portrait-style infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Other notable amenities include a 7-inch fully digital instrument cluster, soft-touch plastics, a single-pane sunroof, wireless charger, push-button start, cruise control, cooled glove box, and two airbags. Safety features include a reverse parking camera, cornering lights function, all-four disc brakes, and an electronic parking brake (available with the CVT variant).

The powertrain options for the Hector remain unchanged. The 1.5L Turbo Petrol engine delivers 143 PS of peak power and 250 Nm of peak torque, available with either a 6-speed manual or CVT gearbox. Meanwhile, the 2.0L diesel engine, offering 170 PS of peak power and 350 Nm of peak torque, is paired exclusively with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Despite the premium positioning of the Hector and Hector Plus SUVs, the diesel variant is limited to the manual transmission option.
