India’s premium carmaker Mercedes Benz India introduced its first locally assembled, Made in India produced and assembled luxury electric car – EQS 580 4Matic, on September 30. The EV is following the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) route in India with the kits being imported from a facility at Sindelfingen, Germany, from its parent company. Mercedes Benz EQS 580 4Matic Pricing

Introduced on September 30, the Mercedes Benz EQS 580 4Matic is priced at a whopping INR 1.55 crore (ex-showroom). Made in its Chakan (Pune) factory, the EV made its way out of the factory in presence of Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways.

According to the Managing Director & CEO at Mercedes Benz India – Martin Schwenk, the Mercedes Benz EQS 580 4Matic is its first locally manufactured EV in India. Also, India becomes the first country to get its hands on EQS 580 4Matic after Germany which goes around to show that the carmaker has a long term vision for the EV market in the country. The EQS on its moniker is for sustainability as the car is using recycled and renewable steel and other raw materials for manufacturing.

Additionally, Mercedez Benz India did made a statement that it aims to generated 25 percent of the sales from its EV offerings by the next five years.

Mercedes Benz EQS 580 4Matic EV Specifications, Features & More

The EQS 580 4Matic gets its power from a 107.8 kWh battery under the hood capable of delivering 855nm torque, 385 kW of power, and 516.3 bhp. It goes from 0 to 100kmph in mere 4.3 seconds and carries a top speed of 210kmph on its speedometer.

You’ll get a 300km range with a single charge and once you need charging, you can use its 200 kWh DC fast charging tech to juice it up. As per the stats provided by Mercedes Benz India, the battery pack goes from 10 to 80 percent in just 35 minutes using a 110 kW DC charging while the regular household 240-volt charging will take approx 10 hours to juice up to its max capacity.

The Mercedes Benz EQS 580 4Matic EV gets a 56” curved MBUX Hyperscreen which is equivalent to the size of the dashboard from A-pillar to A-pillar. There are features like Dynamic Select, HEPA Filter, 10° steering angle adjustment, and Predictive Route Planning among others.

When it comes to the dimensions, the EV has a length of 5216mm, 3210mm in wheelbase, 1512mm tall, and 1926mm wide. It will take against Porsche Taycan and Audi e-Tron GT.
