Meizu’s Super mCharge Won’t Make It To Real Phones Till Early 2018

At MWC this year, Chinese manufacturer Meizu showcased its revolutionary charging technology, dubbed as the Super mCharge that can charge a 3000mAh battery in mere 20 minutes. In comparison, this is 11 times faster than iPhone 7 charging speed and 3.5 times faster than Samsung’s fast charging tech in Galaxy S7.

So obviously, we were Super Excited to see the tech put to real world test and were wondering when we would actually see the new mCharge in a phone.

The bad news is that it won’t be arriving for a while.  Meizu says that its first Super mCharge phones won’t arrive till late 2017 or early 2018.

Over the years, fast charging tech has emerged as the biggest battery related advancement and, to an extent, they do help bridge the gap between what high-capacity-yet-slim dense batteries in modern flagships can offer and the insatiable power needs that modern consumer fosters.

However, the mCharge isn’t coming anytime soon and that pushes the availability of this fast charging tech on midrange phone even further. But Meizu isn’t alone in this race. Other players are gearing up to improve sustainable fast charging tech as well.

For instance, recent reports suggest that Apple will add USB Type-C fast charging in its lightning port for the upcoming iPhone 8 that shall allow it to charge at crazy fast speeds. So mCharge or not, your phones are expected to charge a lot faster by early next year.
