Leaping towards a significant future, top engineering schools backed by Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries are developing India’s first-ever ChatGPT-like tool slated to launch next month. Eight Indian Institute of Technology colleges and Reliance Jio Infocomm along with the central government of India have built a consortium teasing the first look at a recent technology conference held in Mumbai.
Get Ready for India’s ChatGPT – Hanooman
India’s ChatGPT (or BharatGPT) is dubbed Hanooman and will offer a breakthrough in AI technology where people can converse in regional languages. The demo as shown during the conference showcased how a mechanic can ask questions in Tamil language while a Hyderabad-based software developer took help from Hanoman to write computer code and a banker asking queries in Hindi.
According to the reports, the AI tool Hanooman is being built with 11 local languages support that will majorly serve four sectors i.e. education, financial services, governance, and healthcare. The tool will have speech-to-text capabilities to facilitate users since even with the widely available education, there are still millions of people in India who can’t read or write.
Reliance Jio is building customized LLM models to cater to specific uses. Its AI wing, Jio Brain, will introduce the service across 450 million subscribers in the country. As in the case of ChatGPT and other generative AIs, Hanooman will be based on large language models although captivated to target a different genre of LLM that could provide users with natural-sounding responses in the age where ChatGPT has begun working on extremely large LLM models.
Unfortunately, we aren’t aware of what exactly Hanooman is capable of at the moment. It is slated to arrive next month i.e. March 2024, although the exact date isn’t available either. Luckily, we won’t have to wait much as we are just a week away from March so yes, keep an eye on SmartPrix for more updates on BharatGPT and Hanooman.
