MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ SoC launched in India: Will be available in Q3 2023

Chipmaker MediaTek has launched a new 6000 Series chipset in the country. The MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ SoC which is an octa-core chipset made for the next generation of 5G mobiles has gone official in India. MediaTek claims that the new chipset will give premium features like better power efficiency, high frame rate, AI-powered camera, vivid display, and reliable Sub-6 5G connectivity.

At the launch of the chipset, MediaTek said, “As developing markets continue rolling out 5G networks at a rapid pace and operate in developed markets work to finish transitioning consumers from 4G LTE to 5G, there has never been a more vital need for chipsets that cater to the growing number of mainstream mobile devices that feature next-generation connectivity,” said CH Chen, Deputy GM of MediaTek’s Wireless Communications Business Unit.

He further added, “The MediaTek Dimensity 6000 series makes it possible for device makers to stay ahead of the curve with impressive upgrades that boost performance, increase power efficiency and reduce material costs.”

MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ SoC: Availability

The first smartphone powered by Dimensity 6100+ chipset will launch in 3rd Quarter of 2023. While Dimensity 9000 series is made for flagship smartphones, the Dimensity 8000 family powers the premium mid-range phones, Dimensity 7000 series is for high-tech smartphones and now 6000 series chipsets will power 5G budget smartphones.

MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ Chipset: Features

The Dimensity 6100+ chipset will reduce power consumption contributed by MediaTek UltraSave 3.0+ technology. It is claimed to offer a 20% reduced 5G power consumption compared to competitive solutions.

It integrates an enhanced 5G model that supports 3GPP Release 16 standard with up to 140MhHz 2CC 5G Carrier Aggregation. The chipset has two ARM Cortex-A76 big cores and 6 ARM Cortex-A55 efficiency cores. The chip now supports AI-powered cameras, 10-bit displays, and outstanding UX and GPU performance. The SoC is Paired with Mali-G57 MC2 GPU and comes with support for LPDDR4x memory and UFS 2.2 storage.

In terms of camera, the 6100+ SoC supports up to 108MP Non-ZSL camera and up to 2K 3-fps video recording. There is AI-bokeh for stunning portraits and selfies and AI-color technology.

Coming to display, it supports a 10-bit display and reproduces more than 1 billion colors for vibrant images and videos. There is support for 90Hz to 120Hz frame rates for a smooth user experience. Connectivity options include WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS (L1CA+L5), BeiDou, Glonass, Galileo, QZSS, NavIC, 4G Carrier Aggregation, and SA/NSA modes.
