At its 43rd annual AGM reliance introduced JioTV+ app, a platform that aggregates 12 popular OTT players like Netflix, Disney+Hotstar, Prime Videos, Zee5, etc. and traditional DTH TV under one umbrella.

Users won’t need to log in separate accounts for individual apps and will be able to seamlessly search content across different services! Jio has worked on making content discovery simpler and effective. Users will be able to search using voice commands and also search using names of actors and other keywords.

JioTV+ will also be more interactive than regular TV. People will be able to participate in TV polls and see live results. Reliance believes real-time two-way interaction is the future of TV.

JioTV+ Set-top-box also has its own app store and users can directly download content apps

It’s not yet clear if users will have to pay separately for different OTT platforms or a unified subscription plan would be an option.

Tata Sky Binge is another service that tries to club OTT and TV under a unified subscription plan. Tata Sky, however, failed to bring many of the popular OTT players like Netflix on board.
