Samsung’s last two smartwatches, the Galaxy Watch 5 and the Galaxy Watch 6, haven’t been that big of an upgrade. However, an X user has claimed that the company could be working on a Galaxy Watch Ultra, along with a Micro LED display. Here’s everything we know about the Galaxy Watch Ultra.
Samsung Electronics Is Considering Using Micro LEDs In Small Displays
Samsung, through its Electronics Newsroom site, has announced that it is considering using Micro LED in smaller displays, like those on its smartwatches. For years, Samsung has used its Super AMOLED panel on Galaxy Watches, including the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 5. Now, it looks like the company wants to use a superior display technology to enhance the smartwatch experience in the form of Micro LED. For those catching up, Micro LED can achieve higher peak brightness and beat regular OLED displays in most scenarios, including power consumption and longevity.

Further, the X user @Tech_Reve believes that the Micro LED display on a Samsung smartwatch could debut with a Galaxy Watch Ultra. Given that Apple added a separate smartwatch lineup in 2022, known as the Apple Watch Ultra, with a premium price, there’s a good chance that Samsung could release a similar smartwatch with niche features like higher water resistance, better satellite connectivity, built-in compass, thermometer, and so on.
Micro LED Panel Should Be Brighter And Better
Further, the Micro LED display should improve brightness, color generation, and the overall quality of the Galaxy Watch Ultra’s display. Previously, Samsung launched a Micro LED TV, but if the Galaxy Watch Ultra comes to life next year with the Galaxy S24 series, it could become the world’s first smartwatch with such an advanced display. It is important to mention that Apple is rumored to be working on a smartwatch with a Micro LED display.
