As we inch closer to the iPhone 16 series, the rumor mill is picking up some speed. Most recently, two key pieces of information about the upcoming iPhone’s charging speed and its successor’s cameras have surfaced on the internet. So, without any further ado, let’s dive into it.

iPhone 16 Pro Models Could Support 40W Wired Charging

iPhone 16 Capture Button Will Allow Zoom in & Out

According to a leak on the Chinese microblogging platform Weibo, the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max could support 40W wired charging. At present, both iPhone 15 Pro models ship with 27W wired charging, which seems a slouch compared to other flagships.

While certain Android manufacturers equip their handsets with over 100W wired charging, Apple, on the other hand, focuses on retaining the battery’s health for the longest possible duration. Most recently, Apple increased the number of charge cycles it believes its iPhones can keep 80% of their battery health from 500 to 1000.

Apple Could Also Improve Its MagSafe Technology

Nonetheless, the wireless charging speeds on the iPhone 16 Pro models could also increase from 15W to 20W. While the leak doesn’t mention this specifically, we think the update could be attributed to a newer generation of MagSafe technology.

iPhone 16 Pro To Ship With A New Tetraprism Zoom Camera

Elsewhere, known tipster Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that both the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max would feature the tetraprism camera Apple first introduced on the iPhone 15 Pro Max. According to the tipster, tetraprism cameras would penetrate 60-65% of the iPhone 16 series, implying that the iPhone 16 Pro models will sell more than the regular ones.

While we are still waiting for the iPhone 16 series to go official, Kuo also seems to have got his hands on some information about the iPhone 17 and iPhone 18 series. First, the higher-end iPhone 17 models could come with a 1/2.6-inch 48MP CIS tetraprism camera, which could be a significant upgrade from the 1/3.1-inch 12MP CIS zoom sensor on the iPhone 16 Pro series.

Apple Might Upgrade The Zoom Sensor To 48MP With iPhone 17 Series

The upgraded tetraprism camera requires an all-new designed prism with a shorter form factor to reduce the camera’s height. Hence, the company might need some time before it makes it to the Pro iPhones. Although Kuo isn’t sure about whether the new sensor will only make it to the iPhone 17 Pro Max, in which case it should arrive on the Pro variant with the iPhone 18 lineup.
