Intel gave the world the first glimpse of its 10th generation Comet Lake-H processors at the CES 2020. A couple of months later, Intel has launched six Comet Lake-H processors to take on AMD’s Ryzen CPUs. The Comet Lake-H 10th generation mobile processors line-up includes Intel’s most powerful chips targeted towards high-end gaming laptops and creators. Four out of six Comet Lake-H CPUs manage to cross the 5GHz barrier at 45W. The Intel 10gen H-series includes two quad-core i5’s, two quad-core i7’s and one octa-core processor in i7 and i9 lineup.

Intel’s new Core i9 processor i.e. – the Core i9-10980K was the show stopper. The new i9 mobile CPU has eight cores, 16 threads, and 16MB cache. It is fully unlocked and overclockable. The octa-core processor has a base clock speed of 2.3 that can shoot up all the way up to 5.3Ghz. 14nm node process is used while manufacturing.
Apart from i9 processor, there are three more Core i7 processor that can cross 5GHz with turbo boost. As per Intel, more than 100 laptops from all major brands featuring these Comet Lake processors which hit the stores in coming months.
Intel says it developed the Core i7-10875H octa-core processor keeping the creators in mind. It has been optimized to deliver better single as well as multi-threaded performance. This will ensure creative professionals can work and play in there leisure time. There are two more Core i7 models – the Core i7-10850H and Core i7-10750H. Both these i7 processors include six cores and 12 threads, with 12MB caches. The Core i5-10400H and Core i5-10300H are both quad-core, 8-thread parts with 8MB caches.
All of these new Comet Lake – H series SKUs have 45W TDP ratings. They all support up to 128GB of DDR4-2933 RAM in two channels. Intel is also boasting off 40 PCIe 3.0 lanes support at the platform level with 16 lanes arising directly from the CPU. What it means is that it can be used for high-speed connections to a discrete GPU, NVMe SSDs, or IO controllers such as Thunderbolt 3 or Gigabit Ethernet.
