Intel Compute Stick review

Intel is known to be the biggest ever brand to manufacture processors which are most widely used all around the world. While the Intel Core I series is the most popular range of processors to be deployed in computers and laptops these days, the Atom series by the brand is used in smartphones and tablets. As we now see Intel moving into the 5th generation of its i-core family of processors, the largest chip maker of the world seems to stop at nothing when it comes to innovation in computing as here is a whole new device called Intel compute Stick, which can turn any HDMI display into a computer based on Windows 8.1 OS platform.

Intel Compute Stick launch was introduced at the CES 2015 event earlier this year. The device is a simple, compact and ultra-light computer as Intel calls it. Intel Compute Stick features HDMI cable support with which the device can turn any display with HDMI port into a computer, anywhere at any time. The dongle sized device runs on Windows 8.1 and is also available with Ubuntu OS. The device comes with a 2 pin wall plug, an HDMI cable and a USB extension as well. It also brings in free McAfee Plus antivirus software. The all new Compute Stick is powered by an Intel Atom Z3735 quad core processor loaded with Intel HD graphics. It inboxes 2 GB of DDR3 RAM and 32 GB of in built eMMC storage out of the box.

It comes with a USB 20 port to connect devices like keyboard, mouse, USB hard drives, and any other device depending upon the requirement. A USB hub can be connected too to connect multiple devices. The device supports Intel HD audio and the HDMI cable is used to transmit the audio to the display. It has built in Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi support. It also supports microSD cards and UHS I cards too. Intel Compute Stick price is $149.
