The cricketing extravaganza is all set to return in March 2023 and ahead of the blockbuster IPL 2023, there will be a Mini Auction that will help the teams complete their squads for the upcoming edition of the game. The auctions will see a list of over 400 players going under the hammer for whom 10 IPL franchises will be bidding as per their remaining purses.

When & Where will the IPL 2023 Auction take place?

The auction will take place on 23rd December 2022 in Kochi.

IPL 2023 Auction: Live streaming details

The auction will begin at 2:30 PM IST and go on till 7 PM IST. It will be a one-day affair and will live stream online on the JioCinema App and website in 4K resolution. On TV, the auction can be watched on Star Sports Network channels in India.

About the Auction

405 players have been registered to go under the hammer during the 2023 auction. All the players have been divided into separate brackets according to their base price. There is no Indian player in the 2 crore bracket.

The 10 teams can have up to 25 members in their squads and though the teams have retained their core strength, there are still 87 slots to be filled in total, with only 30 overseas player slots being vacant.

Sunrisers Hyderabad has the highest purse value of Rs. 42.25 crores while the Kolkata Knight Riders have just Rs. 7.05 crores available.

Rules for IPL 2023 Player Auction

Every franchise will be allowed to spend 75% of the entire budget and not more than that. There will be no Right to Match card and every franchise’s squad will have a minimum of 18 and a maximum of 25 players.

IPL 2023: Some major trade-offs & releases

Defending champions Gujarat Titans have let go of Lockie Ferguson who went to Kolkata while legends like Pollard and Bravo have retired from IPL. Sunrisers Hyderabad has released 13 players including skipper Kane Williamson while Punjab has released Mayank Agarwal.
