Usually, every social networking site collects your data and store it on their servers. That data could be anything from what you share, like, comment, post, or message to someone, and Facebook was caught leaking this information. If you take a toll of the data, you will be surprised by the numbers and realize how big of a privacy breach it was.
Following criticisms for its action, Facebook added a method by which you can download and access the data stored on the servers. Now, the same has been added to Instagram, to let users export their photos, videos, saved stories, profile information, comments, direct messages as well as likes and searches.
Here’s How You Can Download Your Instagram Data
Note: You will be needing a desktop with working internet connection to download your Instagram information.
Step 1: Go to the Instagram page from your Web Browser and log in with your ID.
Step 2: Once you are a logged-in look for the three icons on the top-right corner – click on the far right one.
Step 3: The icon will open your profile from where you have to go to settings by tapping on the gear icon.
Step 4: A pop-up will flash on your screen that will show multiple options – select on Privacy and Security.
Step 5: Scroll down to the follow-up page and you should see Data Download option. Click on Request Download, and provide the email address on which you want your data to be sent. That’s it.
How To Download Your Instagram Data
After completing the steps, the process will take up to 48 hours to revert back to your given email ID with all the Instagram data.
That being said, the Data Download is a needed feature on every social networking platform. It is true you can’t do much on the collected information, but Right to Information is a civil right of every individual.
