The Meta-owned social media platform Instagram has launched a new feature that allows users to add a theme song to their profile. And if the feature sounds familiar, it is only because the popular social platform Myspace had it in its early days. Like the other things in a user bio, the song will tell other users about someone and can act as an icebreaker or a common point of discussion.

Here’s How You Can Add A Music Track To Your Instagram Bio
- Open Instagram on your smartphone.
- Tap on your profile picture at the bottom right corner of the screen.
- Now, tap on the “Edit profile” button.
- On the following screen, tap on “Music – Add music to your profile.”
- Now select “Pick a song for your profile” and search for the track that you have in mind. Choose it from the options that show up.
- Choose the portion of the song you wish to play when someone visits your profile and hit Done. Finally, hit done at the top right corner of the screen.
- Now, the song should show on your profile, below the last line in your bio, or the external link (if any).
- If you wish to remove the profile song, press on the song title on your profile and select “Remove profile song” from the available options. Similarly, you can change it by selecting “Change profile song.”

Now, whenever someone else visits your Instagram profile, they’ll see the song title, along with a small play button to its left. They can play the song and explore your profile (while the song plays in the background). However, the profile song will stop playing when someone opens a post. Viewers can also tap on the song’s details (showcased to the right) to view the audio page.
While the feature could act as a point of conversation for regular users, singers or music composers can use it to promote their tracks.
