Huawei Honor 8 Lite is now official in India. The Chinese manufacturer will be pushing 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant in India for 17,999 INR. The Honor 8 Lite is also the first to usher in Huawei’s new EMUI 5 in India.

The glass metal design takes after the Honor 8 (or rather Honor 8 Smart). A 5.2-inch Full HD dominates the front and the fingerprint sensor has been mounted on the rear. On the inside, the handset employs 16nm process based Kirin 655 octa-core chipset clocked at 2.1GHz. The primary CPU cores are also assisted by i5 co-processor.

The base software is Android Nougat. Huawei’s new custom skin adds features like dual apps, and scrollable screenshots and claims that access to all basic features is at max 3 taps away.

For photography, the handset includes a 12MP rear camera with LED flash and an 8MP selfie shooter. Other notable features include 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 LE, GPS, and a 3000mAh battery.

Excited about the launch, Mr. P Sanjeev, Vice President- Sales, Huawei India Consumer Business Group said “The Honor 8 Lite is set to revolutionize the sub-20K segment. This phone is ideal for consumers looking for a power packed phone with stunning design. The 8 Lite is a refreshing change from the current selfie offing that run on outdated chipsets; and provides users a device that is awe-inspiring both in looks and performance. Running on powerful Kirin 655 octa-core chipset backed by a 4GB RAM+64GB ROM, running on the latest Android Nougat, the Honor 8 Lite, is the best smartphone choice for consumers.”

The Honor 8 lite looks like an incremental update to Honor 8 Smart that was launched alongside Honor 8 last year. It’s basically targeting offline market.
