GTA VI Online Could Launch Before Christmas: New Leak Points to a One-Month Window After Release

TL; DR
  • Leaker TheGhostOfHope claims GTA 6 Online will launch within a month of the November 19, 2026, release.
  • Rockstar has precedent for this — GTA 5’s Online mode followed just two weeks after the main game.
  • A PC version remains unconfirmed and is separately tipped to arrive 12–18 months after the console launch.

The wait for GTA VI is almost over, as November 19, 2026, is locked in as the console launch date for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. This, mind you, is after two delays that have already tested the thin-running patience of what is arguably the most eager gaming audience on the planet.

A new leak is now shifting attention beyond the single-player launch to a question that fans have been asking for a long time: when does GTA VI online arrive?

Is There Any Precedent For The Leak?

According to TheGhostOfHope, a leaker whose Call of Duty track record was credible enough (to receive a court order from Activision Blizzard), the current plan at Rockstar is to launch the online version within a month after the original game ships. If that happens, GTA VI could arrive by or before Christmas 2026.

If you look at GTA’s track record, GTA V was released on September 17, 2013, and the online version followed on October 1 of the same year. You see? That was a two-week gap. Red Dead Redemption 2 followed a similar launch pattern; its online mode also arrived shortly after the initial single-player launch.

In other words, Rockstar Games has done this before. That said, TheGhostOfHope is primarily a Call of Duty specialist, so this particular claim falls slightly outside his expertise. Further, he has mentioned, “Up to you guys if you wanna believe me on this or not.”

In general, GTA VI enthusiasts have believed the online version might take months to arrive, especially given the game’s troubled history and the continued commercial strength of current-generation games.

What Else Do We Know About GTA VI’s Rollout?

In February 2026, Take Two’s CEO, Strauss Zelnick, confirmed that the November 19 launch date remains pretty much on track. A full-scale marketing campaign is expected to begin in summer 2026. While the PC version has not been officially confirmed, it might arrive 12 to 18 months after the console-only launch.

Rockstar Games will almost certainly monetize GTA VI Online. For now, November 19, 2026, remains the only confirmed date. Everything else surrounding it is purely speculation or tips provided by leaksters.
